Any consensus on most important stats for WHM/SCH?

I haven't really looked into it particularly but as far as I know there's no one agreed upon stat weighting for either class.

Is a spell-speed whm just as useful as a det whm? Is a det sch just as useful as a crit sch? Coming from a DPS class, healing seems to be less about absolutes.

There is a consensus, but as usual the most vocal are the people who disagree.

Determination for White Mage, Critical for Scholar.

White Mage: Spell speed takes far too much to be useful and doesn't effect HoT ticks. Additionally, because every fight is 100% choreographed in this game, there's no need to cast faster -- you know exactly what is going to hit and when. Critical doesn't effect anything for WHM.

Scholar: Same deal with spell speed. Determination is also very useful, but critical effects both Adlo and Enhanced Pet Actions.

Edit: That's not to say you can't prioritize other stats, but for min/maxing, there you go.^

I think a Mix of Det and Spell Speed is really great for WHM.
Atm,i'm going to get DET on my accessories.Got the boots and the pants already. All the rest will be Speel speed and considered what i saw ,it's works ok.
But i think Full DET for WHM and Full Crit for SCH is a classic and it will always work.

I'll agree with what Zaft said. I'm sure you'll get people who come in here and argue about how good spell speed is, but take a few things into consideration when aiming for spell speed. A lot of your healing can/will be done with regen/medica2. Since regen is instant and medica lasts 30 seconds, then more potency in their heals will be best for those skills. Spell speed will not help those spells as much.

There will also be times when those "Oh *instertwordhere*" moments happen. In that instant, some people will say that it is good to have spell speed. While I somewhat agree with this, when you play with a group of people you know and trust, then those moments kinda stop happening. So if you like to duty finder or party finder a lot then you may want to go for that because you don't know how other people play. At the same time as well, you won't notice a big difference in casting speed. The same can be said about stacking all determination.

Honestly, if you want the most bang in your heals, go for determination. If you would like to get that heal off 0.1-2 seconds faster then grab spell speed. Whatever you decide, if you do your job and do it well, then you did it correctly. I know scholars who can equip whatever they have on whitemage and perform great. It is great though, to get a cure 2 off just as death sentence hits so you get the heal, but not affected by the debuff. So work on timing your heals just as damage happens.

Crit for scholar is a pretty big deal since an adlo crit can take you from 500/500 (1000) to 750/1500 (2250). A crit more than doubles the effectiveness of your adlo at that point. And normal crit healing is quite nice as well. The spell speed buff you get from your pet for critting more than makes up for a lack of spell speed on your items I feel since the effect is far more potent when received that way. Also keep in mind that if you're using Selene you can get quite a spell speed boost every minute for 30 seconds.

For WHM, I always thought their best tricks lay in regen and large numbers, not speed. DET is probably the best route there but I haven't even finished unlocked the WHM job yet (still leveling) so you can ignore that if you want.

I would say DET as well for WHM instead of spell speed. While it can be might cool to see those crit heals, I still up crit a little. Otherwise, DET has proven worthwhile.

I don't have a SCH so no comment.

Oh - there are a couple of places people did the math on spell speed actual value on end-game. Something like an extra 4 or 5 spells cast for a 10 minute boss (taking into account having to interrupt casting to dodge and waiting for the right time to cast so you don't over heal) with boat loads of spell speed added. DET improves each heal spell cast.

    Food for thought.

So this is what I've tested.

Current Gear (base stats no buffs):

    500 Mind
    304 Determination
    395 Spell Speed

    Cure 1 range: 1049 to 1113
    Cure 1 cast time: 1.96

Spell speed gear (again no buffs):

    500 Mind
    261 Determination
    461 Spell Speed

    Cure 1 Range: 1027 to 1090
    Cure 1 Cast Time: 1.91

Now I don't have the optimal amount of gear for spell speed, I got most of the gear that adds Determination and crit because I felt that spell speed had little relevance once I got used to the fights in the game. I could see myself maybe getting 1.85 cast time (maybe even lower) with full spell speed gear at the cost of a lot of determination. Although as it stands, I don't notice enough of a difference in casting times between my spell speed setup and my determination setup. At the same time the amount healed isn't that much different either, but I do love getting over 1.1K heals.

You can argue that with current gear neither one really adds that much of a difference, which I believe is true, so it really just depends on preference. I personally prefer Determination over Spell Speed mostly due to the fact I like bigger heals and bigger Regen ticks. I also feel crit is useful for a secondary stat because Regen can in fact crit. Although in most end-game fights it won't make that much of a difference, and without knowing exactly what my % is to crit I feel its not nearly as useful. I'm not about to spend hours with the combat logs to try and figure out my crit %.

Just my 2 cents though, as others have said, spell speed loses its luster after you become more familiar with fights and get the timing down.

    Edit:

Party buffed which boosts my Mind up to 515 puts my Cure 1 at a range of 1082 to 1146. So would suggest you get Mind above all else even if the secondary stats aren't ideal for you.

As a WHM, I personally go for Det, Crit, Vit and put my Bonus Points into MND (all 30). I'm looking forward for ilvl90 crafter accessoires
