Level both tank classes?

i have both so i changed my war over to 30/30 str
can ot/dps with decent numbers as war or i can mt on pld

dungeons i prefer war, big things i prefer pld

And I've read that you really need 2 PLDs for Ifrit HM one that is just on stun duty.

false i solo tank as WAR to have that 5th dps slot
wars stun is off gcd and after inferno he is always plume > plume > eruption > plume
and this eruption is really the only one that matters entire fight
have enough threat to even dps nail under him when they pop

Also leveled both because I couldn't decide (lol) and I have to agree with many others
PLD is usually the safer bet and performs great on bosses like Titan. Also great if you have CNJ34 and MRD leveled.
WAR is generally more fun because you feel like you can dish out more damage and have more options. MNK42 and GLA34 makes it even more fun.

But their playing styles feel different. If you love being a tank, go both and switch whenever you feel like.

I don't know what Titan you are talking about that PLD has the edge on WAR. :/ Titan is so scripted it's hard to not have Inner Beast up for Mountain Buster (which is pretty much the only move that matters to tank).

Hollow ground, Tempered. Pld is superior to war in titan ex. That's a given. They can survive more stacks when need to, and even clear their stacks (if they have to) through some tricks. That's why a war hasn't been able to single tank titan ex.

Wars are nice on adds for quick aggro, but that's nothing a pld can't do either.

Ifrit ex, pld is also better. Hollow at just the right time can be the difference between win and wipe.

Garuda though War is better because you have IB up for every WW as long as you know when it comes, unlike a pld that will run out of CDs, if anyone is derping.

I don't think it is impossible. With high enough DPS, you wouldn't need to go past 6 stacks and I've survived 6 stacks before. As for Tempered Will, any tanks that have cleared would be able to dodge Landslide so really, PLD just have the convenience in their favor. I wouldn't be surprised if videos start showing up of single tank warrior. Ifrit EX, as long as everyone does what they're supposed to do, there is no need for Hallowed Ground.

Just because you're missing a leg doesn't mean you can't walk, but sure as heck easier when you're not missing it, eh.

I don't want you to be getting hit for 6 stack

Just like I don't want to be in phase 3 of ifrit without a hollow ground at the right time. One holllow ground makes phase 3 madness not very bad. 99% of Ifrit wipes is because in phase 3 ifrit rng puts 5 stacks on one tank, while the other tank still has 3...that's a "crap" moment because the entire party is being spammed with nail explosions and your tank needs to be spammed to be kept alive.

One hollow ground = the MT reaching 4-5 on purpose, allowing the OT to drop his stacks completely. If you have 2 plds, it makes it a cake walk because you ensure phase 3 stacks drop completely even with the worse ifrit RNG.

PLD > War for those content.

WAR has single tanked Titan EX.

PLD always has CDs up for Garuda's WWas well. Its a timed fight....unless you are popping them at random times you will always have atleast 2 CDs and more then likely 3-5.

I find Holgang to be more usefuly than hollow, since the CD is shorter. a good timing Holgang is as good as hollow. I also fine WAR to be easier to survive on iffit Xm then PLD, (not 100%, may be due to awsome healer LOL)

hmm.. i nenver been in these situation where both tank has stack, and i tank iffit Xm more than i want too ><. as long as you do tank swapping correctly and at the right timing. (meaning when tank swap, both tank does not get hit by debuff at the same time. The fight is a lot more easier when both tank on voice comm and coordinate their swap. same goes to healer.

Other people claim Paladins can "chain stun" but we can't do it while tanking. At end game

I have no problem stunning dreads while solo tanking twintania. By the time you need to interrupt something you should have enough of a hate lead to sit idle a few moments.

Also, this sounds mostly like a latency thing. I agree spirits is too slow but not as slow as you describe.


Level and gear both. Actually, level and gear all classes. The game is much better, and you are much better at it, with that much flexibility.

I'm i90 both tanks and sch as well as i80+ all other classes.
