    Souls of the primals (Extreme) - Upgrading Primal weapons to ilevel 85/90

    As for the relic weapon it would be nice if it would be possible to upgrade your existing primal weapon (e.g. Ifrits or garudas to ilevel 85/90) by killing the extreme versions of the primes.

    For example Garuda drops "a soulstone of wind" to upgrade one of your garuda weapon. (besides jewlery drops of course)


    On the other hand it would be more attractive again to kill the "normal versions" first to farm the weapons.. and afterwards the extreme versions to receive a soul stone.


    what do you think about it?


    - giving incentives to play older content
    - more item variety (different stats)

    isnt getting i90 weapon of choice after killing all 3 extreme primals enough?

    eh well the thing is... you have a bigger choice of which weapon you could chose from.. as well different ways to get your weapon you want to. instead of doing just one highend instance over and over again.

    with different stats and appearance..

    more individualism you know? i myself like the idea to equip my blm with more +crit stats than for example +casting speed..


    how boring is it that everybody wears the same setup in the highend level?


    fighting ifrit hardmode is quiet senseless now.. because the weapons are ilevel 60..


    so why not giving the people the option to upgrade these by killing extreme ifrit? oh i know... that would be a bigger variety than just one ilevel 90 weapon per class... -.- oh dear.


    i myself think that its a little bit dull to continue the item circle by just throwing away old staff.. instead of being able to upgrade them.. and giving incentives to play older content.


    i wonder how people can complain about more item variety (which raises more individualism and complexity)... "isnt one ilevel 90 weapon enough per class?"

    Calm down. I didn't say anything about it being "pointless to have different ilevel 90 weapons" and I dunno where you're getting that from other than paranoid defensiveness. We already have multiple i90 weapons (such as Zenith and EX weapons) and I foresee there being more than 1 weapon per iLv tier in the future as well. I fail to see why that means they need to rehash the Primal weapons again.

    Honestly i90 is about to be pointless. Soon we'll be over i100 or probably even 110. So maybe at that point it would be nice as some sort of method to get higher tier weapons. Maybe.

    You can only rehash the same stats on a weapon so many times before they start using stats that are plain rubbish on a job. My DRG needs more piety! /cough

    Since Yoshi doesn't want to use effect status on weapons they only have so many options for each weapon. And even if they did add effects those would have to be limited to. Can't have %stun on a weapon or it might proc during a battle when you don't want it too, which then would cause the mob to grow resistance. The same goes for a few other effects.

    Whether we like it or not, SE is going with the vertical progression for most new content.
