This isn't really a rant, more of me trying to understand as to why XIV is poorly optimised imo.

Now I know people are going to disagree but I was an avid first person shooter gamer before I got into MMORPG's, I came from a good decade of Quake/Unreal/Counter-Strike gaming.

I remember that XIV in beta phase iirc was uncapped or capped at 120FPS.

Surely this would help with large scale events in the futue if you get my drift, then again I can't really remember how much more fluid it was in beta now, granted this is an MMO and not a first person shooter.

So why was it removed? Can't we just of had the option to cap our FPS with VSYNC if desired instead of capping it?

Also why don't we have in-game on-the-fly graphics options? Surely this is the standard for 2011 and a next gen MMO?

I just want to know why SE chose to do this as it is frustrating having to go through the tiresome process of having to log out every time when I want to tweak/adjust something.

Does it have something to do with these FF MMO's being cross platform? I vaguely remember XI being limited to 25FPS which I found annoying as well.

Now thinking about it PS2 games ran at 30FPS and most PS3 games run at 60FPS, is this why?

Shouldn't the PC version be standalone?

Thanks :3<3
