    What is the echo?

Hey I ended up failing some story quest big trouble in little ala mhigo ,the npc wilfrid died because he has no idea how to get out of all the enemies AOE's, but thats besides the point, I figured out I had to heal his sorry butt, when I went to retry I got some buff called the echo which basically just increases all my stats, is this SE's way of turning on easy mode when you fail, and if so can I disable it, honestly it's like a slap in the face when an npc screws you over and the game feels like it has to give you an advantage? If it's random then thats fine or if I somehow enabled it without noticing, great, otherwise it's shameful and embarrassing in my opinion.

It would be like picking hard mode on a game, then you die and the game places you on easy mode for the level or something, what the heck? I was aware of my mistake and I know how to correct, don't put it on easy mode.

If this is so then can it be disabled?

They brought in 'easy mode' as you put it, after beta, because of people repeatedly failing main or class quest instances that were too hard for them. Unfortunately it doesnt give the NPC a brain though :/
Though from your thread title I thoguht you were talking about something unrelated, the ability of seeing into someone's story.

I had noticed that after I had posted it, Yeah that is really lame and should be something I can disable, topped with the fact that after the quest the game spawns you in a group of lvl 42 mobs I kind of got a bit frustrated lol, went ahead and posted that bit in the bug report section.

And how did people fail these? their painfully easy, I only failed this one and one other before it way early game, but I went ahead and got cure and I haven't failed one till wilfred decided to be all suicidal

does this realy happen after only the first failure? I didn't think you were supposed to get easy mode until multiple failures. In my opinion it should be triggered at like 5 fails or something around there.

yeah, it happened after 1 failure, IMO it should be able to be disabled by player choice, You failed, but you know exactly what you did wrong, there's no need to buff me when it was WILFRED'S FAULT, I know it shouldn't aggravate me this much but for some reason it does. It kind of ticked me off lol.

Your mission is to prevent ice from melting in a microwave for 30 seconds, what you failed?
Your mission is to prevent ice from melting in a freezer for 30 seconds, yay you won!

what's the fun in a game that's on autopilot?

I highly question this, because I have only got that buff after failing 3+ times. Also, it did not seem to effect my reward at the end so what does it really matter? Why get hung up on a quest you have to keep repeating. The worst are the ones far away from any spawn point, and you end up running back halfway across the damn map.

i believe it could be turned off just like how you turn off any other buffs - mouse over it, and right click (on PC). not sure abt ps3 though, sorry

I agree that this is annoying and we should have an option to disable it. I just ran into a quest where, same as you, the NPCs would get killed failing the mission. I didn't notice the echo buff until after I had beaten it, and now I'm kind of upset. It doesn't give me the sense of accomplishment I would have had without that buff. I don't know if you can cancel it like other buffs, but why should we have to anyway? If I get so stuck that I need a helping hand, fine, let ME decide when that point is though.

I didn't mind it for that particular quest, was the first I failed. NPC AI needs work or they put that there to cue the tooltip for the buff and demonstrate how it works... maybe that quest is supposed to be a failure and is a late game tutorial?
