PS3 Freezing?

Hello,

Occasionally my PS3 would freeze (you would be playing, the game would stop (music and sound effects might still play, cannot use the ps3 control to "get out" of the game, have tp manually reset it - maybe once a week or so) when playing FFXIV. That's cool, I can deal with that.

This morning, Tuesday 4th of March, between 10am and 10:38am GMT+10 Brisbane time, my game has frozen 3 times - about after 5 mins or so being logged in.

I do have a brick old first playstation 3 - waiting on PS4 version to upgrade - but this is a little disheartening. My PS3 seems fine - I will have a tinker about to see if it's running normally, but other than that, is anyone in the same boat? Or is it just my poor old PS3 dying?

Been having the same issue today as well. I've been getting errors all day that wouldn't let me log in and when I finally got into the game it froze my PS3 after only two minutes in game. /=
I have the newer slim version and its working fine with every other game.

I didn't get the freezing for at least 2 weeks but yesterday and the day before twice on each day. It seems it will never go away on PS3. Curious if it will be the same on PS4. This problem exists since release but since it only happens from time to time, there is no DEV love for that topic obviously.

I have a similar case, but it stopped after upgrading the HDD to SSD (seems to be a Read/Write or memory problem?)
And another was fiddling with USB ports (plugging in/out) tends to hang the game & PS3 (unresponsive power button), but I think that's just hardware issue unrelated to FFXIV.

Overall seriously must be PS3 hardware limitations.

Yeah its been like that for a while now. I mainly have issues in CT and Pharos where my music will stop occasionally for a few seconds, and the skills on my hotbar dont show up

i had this problem for abit, cleared off some no longer played games and save files for some extra room and it seems to solve the problem for the most part, i still have some issues in CT but not as often as i did before

It has happened to me before the last two days maybe half a dozen times total since launch. Last night and today, especially today with the crazy 4 times in a row after two minutes logging in really confused me and made me cranky. I have deleted a few things, and will see what happens when I try logging in now.

Whilst I was able to stay in a lot longer than previously, which gave me false hope, just froze in Ifrit story mode on duty roulette. Sigh. I think I will give this a break for a while and save my dollars for the PS4.

Just to update: I have cleaned, formatted, etc my PS3, other games seem to be running fine, there seems to be no major issues that I can tell. Yet, since the last maintenance which did not have a version update, my PS3 has frozen in a 2-5 minute window frame of logging in, multiple times. Sometimes I am able to log in for 15 mins before the freeze. I was never having this issue to rampantly previously, but I am not suggesting it was something changed during that maintenance - it is just a timeframe/flagpost.

I have read through the many other forum comments on this issue, as well as looked at other websites for helpful info. I think basically I am just going to have to cancel my sub until I can afford a PC or PS4 to play, sadly.

Happend to us (me and 2 frinds) too when SE had an Serverrelated Error at the Chaos Center the other day.
After SE announced that they solved the Problem the game worked aggain for us.
