Builders of the Realm: How are you preparing for 2.2 ?

Crafting will most likely have quick popularity in terms of demand in the first few weeks of the patch and being ready to capitalize and make a profit during this time will set the tone for many of us.

Finished Products: I have been recently converting all of my matts (Ore,Stone,Skins,Logs,Fleece,) into finished products. I'm aiming to have at least 3 stacks (99) of every crafting material.

Shards/Crystals/Clusters: I will now be actively gathering 1000 shards and 100 Clusters per day until 2.2 hits. This will likely be the most time consuming part.

2Star Consumables: Once the lvl cap has been raised from 50, the use of 2 star consumables will become more and more popular. Stat caps will permit the use of them and they will no longer be a waste of gil. I plan on having at least a full stack 99 of each of the seven 2star dishes as well as stacks Hi-Elixirs, X-Ethers, Mega-Potions.

I have never understood why people feel the need to gather their own shards. On my server shards are 10gil each... I am MUCH better off gathering just about anything else to sell and buying them.

I am happy to hoard some of the materials I have that aren't selling well atm. I am hanging onto darksteel, gold ore, spruce, crawler cocoons, and materia instead of selling them at the current low prices. I am also stocking up on materials that I see dirt cheap. I'm also hanging onto the materials that are just below one star, like cobalt, shark oil, etc...

I made HQ 99 x-ethers and posted them on the market at a very high price just so other sellers see that someone else is already prepared to own that market

X-ether materials are like 400g on my server, and I can nearly 100% HQ them and sell for easily 1k each... so the supposedly "stunted" market is pretty nice imo.

Nice prep you have there. In regards to the shards, they are currently around 20g each on my server. However there are many botters selling for 9g each sometimes even as low as 1 gil each. I am very tempted to buy them however i worry that some negative concequences could happen to me if i purchase them. "Too good to be True" if you will.

I agree the x-ether market is really crazy atm. Same goes with Mega-Str potions which are being sold for 400g each HQ even though the Silver Shark's are 3 times as much. Its absurd almost. I will definitely be hanging on to most of my potions.

I'm still working on getting my last few crafting classes to 50. I'm hoping that there will be some decent pieces of gear that can be crafted from Myth mats that will be good alternatives to what drops in Coil. (maybe better with materia melds)

I tend to just do crafting to benefit myself rather than trying to capitalize. If I had some leftover materials from when I was leveling up then I'll try to find some niches to turn a little bit of profit, but otherwise crafting for me is to be self-sufficient and not have to rely on others. I also do some random materia melds and get some tips and stuff so that's just a bonus for me.

I don't mind gathering my shards/crystals, it's relaxing and it puts me that much closer to getting the Luminary Achievment. I listen to audio books when I do it, so I can multitask.

At first I was trying to "stock up" on good stuff... and almost going completely broke, but then I couldn't help but see opportunities to make gil now. So I've ended up stocking up on Gil too

I'm back upto 300k, and having a hard time deciding wheather I'd rather have more gil or materials going into 2.2.

Are you sitting on millions, or investing it all in speculation that prices will go up?

Sitting on my millions! Gil is the best investment and retains its value. Although i have been stocking up on items that i "predict" will be in demand, i've been trying not to spend too much money. Keep making money/stacking Myth/Philo! Thats the best way you will prepare yourself.

I don't know. Was thinking about stacking phil items since they will be very expensive GC points, some people already started buying them out. But makes no sense almost because you could buy the new crafted items albeit probably alot more expensive or farm Darklight.

So I have nothing planned nothing to stock, I will probabaly just use this downtime to get Luminary for BTN and MIN since I've been wanting to do that for a long time and now the perfect chance.

*Edit* I almost forgot, the only thing I am not spending is tomes, I'm keeping all of those, Phil and Myth in case there is some mats to buy with myth. Even though I think trying to get rich is worthless. They already don't want people who plays alot to be far ahead the same thing goes as they don't want the rich to be able to be that far ahead either.
