Windows taskbar blinking notifications

This would be one of the cool things that SE could implement for the game.

For example if I am queued in DF for pretty long time I oftenly switch to surf internet or do something else not to sit there and just wait. Ofcourse I turned sounds to be played when the game loses focus so I can hear the notification pop up but I hav eto put my headphones on for it.

In some other games I have seen the taskbar to blink with yellow/red depending on severity of the in-game event like you are being attacked by mobs or some other notifications pops. Though it is a PC specific feature I do not expect it to be implemented asap but I think it would be just great.

In FFXIV I would like to see: DF popup, your character being attacked, Ready check, private chat message

What I've noticed on Windows 8 is with my taskbar transparent I can see the bottom of the game window there while doing other things on my computer. Coincidentally, I had teleport and return on a hotbar at the bottom of the screen. When DF pops up, these icons both become greyed out so I always know whether it's popped without alt tabbing back and forth.
I agree a flashing notification would be nice though.

What you can do currently is making the Sound also play when the Game is minimized, that way you "hear" when DF pops up. It is not that good as a notification but helps, if you are checking out something on the Internet.

edit: Orz.. didnt read that you actually have that but headphones.. xD

Yep, this is what I do. Very easy to hear the chime when a queue pops. The OP said this was a problem for him though, but I don't quite understand why if you've got any sound coming out at all it should work. I actually don't even know any other MMOs that have the feature he's asking for.

In its defense, that's pretty much what botting is all about and that plagues ever MMO there is, really. So long as there's a grind or a wait in any sort of game people are going to make an attempt to automate it or somehow avoid sitting through it.
