Vanya vs Darklight?

So my FC plans to farm Garuda EX. I asked when we would be doing that and was then asked if I have the full Darklight set yet. I said no then was told I was not ready then and was given no answer to my "why Darklight over Vanya" question. I have full level 70 accessories and the Vanya set with Materia added. Don't quite understand why having the Darklight set is such a big deal if I already have item level 70 stuff.

^^ What they said. I think a lot of people won't think of the Vanya stuff since it is crafted and they are used to getting stuff from drops.

Yes, I asked him why I need DL when I have Vanya. He didn't respond.

Crafted DL/Vanya + ilv 70 accessories (melded)totally destroys Philo DL

Melded Vanya gear is easily on par with DL, if not better in some cases. I'd advise maybe using your average iLvl when talking to them in the future. Maybe then they'll understand.

I think crafted ilvl 70 gears are better than dungeon gears even ilvl 90 gears because of the over melding but I just hate the fact that people require you to be in a certain ilvl gear to play with them on the party finder when I a ilvl 70 gear can heal just as much or even more than a ilvl 90 gear.

Sadly I have crafted gear even going to great lengths and leveling my own crafter's but the truth of the matter is it simply isn't worth it. I mean to slot high level Materia in the slots provided is one thing but to risk a 25k+ Materia to over meld an item just isn't worth parting with your Gil for. Lets not forget some of the impossible crafting ingredients it takes to make this stuff in the first place and at the end of the day it's all still just ILVL70 gear there's nothing wrong with it don't get me wrong, but you do start to feel disillusioned when you think what's really the point in my craftsman classes. I really do hope they change it up in the next major patch update for crafters I feel really bad for the genuine craftsman out there that play these types of games for the sole purpose of crafting and economy.

I wish they'd update the system so that adding appropriate materia (especially if its high-level materia) to an item would raise the gear's iLvl to reflect that additional power. It would make iLvl into a more accurate measure of the gear's value.
