    Game crashes while in-game...

Hello. I seem to be having a real issue lately with the game crashing. it says ff14 has encountered a problem and then crashes after I hit okay. It may be coincidence but it seems to happen a lot in "Camp BW". The S and R doesn't get lower before crashing so it doesn't seem to be a connection problem. I even ran a virus scan to see if that was it and still not nothing. Here are my specs:

What's your GPU temperature when the game crashes?

It seems to have stabilized as the afternoon went on(seems like BW is not as packed either). Can my GPU overheat if there's a lot of people in the area? I can post the temps of how it is right now if need be.

Sorry for double post...the video card just hit 90 degrees Celsius in BW while waiting for behest. It happened when a 3 man party ran by me

Edit: The game crashed while doing Behest at/or around 86 degrees Celsius.

That's pretty damn hot even for a HD4870. I think the technical specification before the card starts breaking is around 105°C. 130°C is when it get's dangerous and parts might explode. 90°C should be the absolute maximum for gaming. But at that temperature the memory often causes problems after some months resulting in artifacts, crashes, etc.
The HD4800 series was really problematic in that aspect :/

Ahh so you're saying the card took a beating for getting too hot from playing the past few months?

It's at least possible. Also happened with some other models. This game heats up GPUs pretty fast and some cards can't take the heat for a long time.
Solution is to manually increase the fan speed or replacing the cooler (not recommended unless you plan on getting watercooling).
Or just buy a new and cooler GPU (but that's just what AMD/NV want xD)

You can loose significant heat on your card by reducing the load on the GPU as well. What are your FF14 settings at? If your General Draw Quality in the configuration program is set at 9 or 10, reduce it to 8. You aren't likely to notice any difference in graphics quality, but it will reduce the load significantly (I lost about 10degrees C with this change). Post your config settings, and we might have additional tweeks for you to try that will lower GPU load and thus heat footprint without sacrificing noticeable quality.
