How about better rewards across the board? Philosophy tomes are near worthless right now. There is no reason I'd ever take a level 50 in to the low level roulette. And no reason to do the main scenario roulette at all. Paired with how burned out I am on myth farming I hardly queue at all. Add in the general unpleasantness of the community in general, the only time I really do any dungeons at all is when I want to level a new class on an alternate character. And given that I already have two characters with both tank classes at 50 I almost never queue as a tank for anything. The rare times I do a df instance as a tank it's for friends.

The only way to increase tank popularity is to make tanks more fun... right now both tanks just spam the same combo over and over again to build enmity.

It also doesn't help that neither of the tanking jobs have access to their actual tank stance until 30 (for warrior) and 40 (for paladin). This makes tanking prior to these levels somewhat frustrating as people pull mobs off you far too easily in any multi-target encounter and puts a lot of players off completely after just a few dungeons.

For me personally, i dont find tanking fun at all. Not because its bad or boring in this particular game, but in general your there just to have something hit you and not the others in the group.

I dont like getting hit in the first place, but being there only to prevent damage to others is quite boring. I find there is almost no reason to level a tank class at all. Even if i could flip a switch and generate a brand new 50 tank on the spot, i still would not have any desire to actually play that tank.

But that's the role of a tank, to soak the damage, I can't see why people think it's not important? Try doing endgame without a tank in your group. You're pretty important to the grand scheme of things even if you don't do massive "deeps"

Tanking is all about positioning, timing interrupts and when to use cooldowns. I find it more difficult than DPS who just needs to avoid AOE and use the right rotation, but then again that can be said about every class in this game.

Maybe for PLD this is true. For my WAR I use enmity combo once and then I'm applying SP, SE, and Fracture. Toss in the occasional Steel Cycle/Overpower for multiple mobs.

On a boss it's Tomahawk, SP combo, Unchained, Berserk, Fracture, then BB combo till Pacification (with a Brutal Swing and Flash in there if healer doesn't remove debuff) and then back to applying SP, SE, and Fracture as needed.

Playing WAR is fun. More people should do it.

maybe they could add an active block/parry skill to change things up? that might make tanking a little more fun.

or release a limited time costume or mount?

I agree with this, so much of this game's tank armor is UG-LY. I'm probably going to put the many nice looking DPS armor choices on myself instead when Vanity system goes live because DPS armor looks so much better than tank armor in this game.

A simple fix for the majority of players; Remove the -25% damage reduction in tanking stances (Booo, this goes against the design, boooo!) And give tanks a chat filter only they see, that turns every negative comment into a positive comment via auto-translate. Too many don't want to tank outside of their FC/Statics due to the harassment from know-it-all players. And unfortunately, this causes many newer tank players to give up and roll DPS since you won't get called out as much, and of course, makes the better tanks just not talk or even bother to read chat when they do use DF/PUG.

I think the fact that you play on a japanese server is more responsible for your waiting time than anything else...

To give a concrete example, as a french player on an american server, I have to wait for around 90 minutes for a pop if I check only the F in DF, while I get 13 mins queue in I also check E...

english-speaking tanks in a japanese data center will prove to be difficult to find. It's not a matter of number, just a matter of language. If you don't want to play with the majority (due to not understanding, which is perfectly fine), then you are to expect big queues...

Make tanks "Need" on any loot regardless of their class restriction. You'll start seeing more people rolling as tanks just for the quick ques and guaranteed loot.
