He said no one item is going to be "central" way of progression anymore. That said, simply replacing leves with something even more pointless to act as the "main way" to progress would not make any sense.

I'm going to assume that dungeons and behests (and hamlet defense and other group PVE things) are going to make up the core of group leveling in the future, since they're moving away from grinding.
You'll be grinding something else instead. It's not going anywhere, but the options to do so will probably increase.

It's PR talk and means little at the end of the day.

Yes, of course, there's always going to be a grind. That's unavoidable in a game with character progression. I think what he meant though -- and what most people mean by grind -- is that he wants to step away from just killing with no lore or item or monetary rewards, and no objective or goal beyond simply getting experience.

I take that as there will be less XP gained from a single activity, but more activities grant XP than before, along with other rewards, secondary or primary.

To analyze his posts: leves grant less XP, quests grant more XP. Dungeons grant XP. Company content will probably also grant XP. Each of these activities most likely grants another type of rewards (money from leves, items from quests, marks from class quests, unique loot from raids).

I don't really like that myself (personally I'd like for every activity to reward us with certain type of character progression) ,but it'll probably even out in the end so it's just a personal preference.

Either way it's a nice opportunity to say "no more grind guyz" so win/win!

I think that being rewarded exp for different activities is not in contradiction with having different types of rewards and progression depending on said activities.

There is already the faction points from leves, there's gotta be a progression (probably fame like) system in the grand companies, and there might be a type of progression regarding the dungeons, whether it relates to having access to different routes or loots upon completion of a successful run.

If those different types of progression each leads to exclusive content (gear, unlockable abilities or attributes bonuses, titles etc.), having exp rewards in parallel won't dampen the incentives to do a little bit of each leveling acitivity.

Hopefully the 15 to 30 minute respawn timers for open world mobs will get an adjustment as well as the raising the 10 rank diff SP cap. Otherwise we'll all want to gouge our eyes out with spoons by the time we hit 50.

There are also Mobs with Spawntimes around 1-5 Minutes. What i would like to see is, that you can actually pull Mobs to a certain "Camp", just like it was in FFXI. In FFXIV Mobs like to go back at a certain point which makes the "normal" way of SP-Party real crappy. I dont care really about Roaming and its a really nice and fast way to gain SP, but making "normal" SP-Camps would be an Improvment imho.

remember the being able to pull mobs long distances was removed because of them being afraid of the burn parties returning in xiv. the mobs do not chase you to the end of the zone for a camp anymore. they only follow you for a short distance. once again it is what people hope will be put in to replace the leveling now, but nobody knows what, if anything, will actually be put in.

Sadly, my best guess says that nothing will take the place of leves until 1.19 at the earliest.

i hate to say it, but i've been saying the same thing. thank goodness most of my battle classes are capped so it's not going to hurt me as much as alot of other people.

i agree, ive been doing as many leves as possible because i fear how hard it will be to lvl after. My only glimmer of hope is that there will enough replay value in these dungeons that i will not need to rank my lower jobs if i dont want.
