Not sure where else to post this, so move it if necessary.

Over the past 3 months, I've reported 1 fishing bot WELL OVER 50 times. I'm not making random accusations against every fisher out there, I'm not spamming the "Report to Special Task Force" page; and yet over 3 months I've watched this character grow from rank 18 to 50.

Honestly, at this point I've become more offended at SE than the person bypassing the fishing grind and just collecting the gill.

Why bother having a report page at all if you don't care? Heck, a 5sec youtube search will show you bots people recorded attacking mobs. I get that the company can barely keep up trying to fix the game, but if you're that impotent against rmt and 3rd party programs don't waste players time by even having a "Report to Special Task Force"

In case it gets lost in translation: botting = use of thrid party programs and it's really really aggravating to be supporting a game after so many have left or dumped on it, only to see zombie bots skipping strait to rank 50. Despite 3 MONTHS of reports!

If you care so little, offer the fishing and attack bots as free downloadable programs. That way the player base can just hop on their free rank 50s during the weekends without the hassle of actually playing the game. You get your causal player friendly game, and players get to watch you fail at one less thing... everyone wins

They have to investigate, this isn't hollywood where the cop shoots the guy because he was eyeballing a candybar. SE has to make sure that the person in question is 100% for sure a bot. I could get pissed at someone and spam report that they are a bot, and if SE fails to investigate properly and slams the ban hammer, what just happened? Yep, you guessed it, they screwed up.

I don't think attempting to investigate and ban everyone who may be a botter is a very efficient way of dealing with things.

As much I would like to see that happen I think resources are probably being used behind the scenes to combat such things.

Well I can say I reported botters with obvious names and same motions to STF and CS but those bots are still in the game so I know they aren't really doing anything atm. Maybe since it's free right now the CS and STF people isn't working yet?? But then would think GM would take care of them but GM would just tell me to report it on the STF site... so I dunno.

Either way if they are RMT there is nothing to benefit from this game yet so they are just waiting there time being. If they are cheaters using tools to rank up on other classes, then sooner or later they gonna get it so I wouldn't worry too much. As long as it doesn't interfere with me or change my gameplay (market, etc..) then I guess for now I'll just let it go, I reported I did my part, nothing else I can do.

Seriously? I haven't bothered to post before this. I've waited, patiently sending one report here or there as I go up there and see it fishing. And you think i'm just throwing out accusations and random players?

At least 3 months, fishing in the same spot 24/7, motionless, stripped down gear, unresponsive to the point of getting killed occasionally by mobs then laying there dead for at least the hour I was doing leves. And who do you know goes from rank 18-50 off the same level 3 pond?

Again, in case you missed it (since apparently you miss things quite easily) 24/7! Doesn't matter what day or time i hit my fishing leves, it's there dead or alive, doing it's thing.

If you want to stick up for SE, pick something they're putting effort into.

forgot one more thing, if you plug the name into the ff14sp.com signature generator the character has 2 jobs leveled r50 fisherman, r35alchemy... either they really really like fishing, have insomnia, and like letting the character get killed occasionally orrrrrrr it's just a bot used to harvest shards and fish to sell

but no you're right, SE probably needs a few more months to investigate.

Kidding aside, really would be nice to see some kind of movement in getting the issue in check.

It's already been said that the STF isn't even operational at the moment... hence why bots are still running rampant

Maybe so but you can't assume that just because someone is doing the same thing for 15 days in a row that they are a bot. There is a female lalafell on wutai that everytime I see her, is pounding on an anvil (armorsmithing). So should I assume it's a bot? The funny thing is, if you talk to her, she will respond. So clearly not a bot.
I am not defending SE, as you claim, I am just saying, not everything is black and white, and that they have to be 150% sure that the person is in fact bot, and they aren't making a mistake.

I still don't understand how hard is to ban players with dumb names like aldkfja aldkfjakl and players that you see 7 lalafall and 1 hume and the hume is the leader while all the lalafall follows they did this in FFXI for years how hard is to ban them? i see them more and more everyday. They are 100% for sure bots and easy to tell if there are in ffxi i saw a party of 5 tartars and 1hume me and my gf was no life ffxi and we got 15-30 when we log off we saw the bots that was level 1 level 31 when we was in the new camp 2days later when we jump back to our level 60 we had they was 65 come on it's not to tell that weird names are bots.

bots are going no where too this goes p2p i bet you anything.
