    Game Feedback

Sorry, didn't see any real appropriate forum for this, just website feedback, which is different.

I cancelled my sub awhile back for a few reasons. Gave it a chance but it didn't work out.

Gaming background: MMO - FF11, WoW, SWTOR & FF14. Majority of experience with WoW, but around 1.5 yrs combined with the other three. Other Games - Variety of strategy games & older consoles. Haven't played an FPS in years.

I'm sure I'll get flamed horribly or probably ignored. I'm hoping someone gives a crap from a startup player perspective with MMO gaming experience.

The game didn't seem to move fast enough overall. I didn't really feel involved in the storyline because of the massive amount of reading for the majority of quests, or so it seemed. More voice overs would've helped. I read quite a bit up front, but later on I just hit escape to speed through it.

I liked that I could level my main character through either fates or quests. That was nice. When job leveling got boring, I fooled with crafting. When that skill got boring, I switched to another craft and leveled that. Once I had all crafts close to 30, I got tired of how slow it was to level and went back to leveling my job.

After 2 months and many, many hours of play, I was barely 40 on my main job and 30 across the board on crafting. It felt as if you didn't level crafting evenly, there were huge sacrifices to make getting one up to max level. It also felt as if you didn't level crafting with your job, you were missing out on upgrades to character power. Leveling them all at the same time was excruciatingly painful.

All in all, after 2 months of heavy play, I gave up. I felt that I would have to put another 2 months minimum, because it's slower to level as you get higher, it would take me another 2-3 months to hit max level in all (1 job + most crafting).

With the crazy dungeon queues, I didn't want to get to end game potential in almost 5 months then have to wait again to level up alts by doing FATES + FATES & more FATES. If the leveling process was as amazing as it was in SWTOR, then sure, I'd be interested in leveling another job. However, FATE grinding is not enticing.

Here's a summary of my suggestions. These are the big hitters on why I stopped:

    1) Give another efficient & fun means of leveling an alt job besides FATE grinding

    2) Speed up crafting a bit, maybe twice the speed

    3) The targeting system kills me. Tab targeting is ok, but it seems it's the only way. Clicking is bizarre. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Also, if I can SEE the creature, let me target it.

You must have not played since 2.1 release. Since then leveling using dungeons and leves give more xp. There are dailies to do once you get to Lvl 42. Fate parties are pretty rare now. You occasionally see them in Aleport/Quarrymill but N. Thanalan is dead now lol. Since AV first room farming has become so popular. So yes there are a lot more ways than just fate griding now.

Crafting is so easy to level up I don't know how they can make it any easier/faster.

Targeting is done by LoS so if there is an object in your way it may not let you target it. If you continue to have trouble try switching to legacy mode camera movement.

Slow to level? really? No, not flaming but are you serious? You can have all Classes to 50 in less than a Month with ease. So you want to speed up the hilarious speed of leveling crafts within 2 days from 1 to 50 TWICE the time? Dude.. seriously. I am not surprised leveling got dumbed down that much, if there people alike you still complaining.

I leveled all my Classes during 1.0 to 50 which took around 3-4 weeks for a craft, 3-4 weeks for a battleclass in early 1.0 and THAT was even too fast for my taste. Fategrinding btw is long gone, most level through dungeons.

5 months wat? I'm playing this game 1 month and i'm ilvl 80 , and that was with mostly casual play. Not saying I'm good or w/e, im saying the game is easy from gear point of view. In fact once you hit 50 it turns into a "Monday game" so hardcore in a grind sense doesn't exist at 50. Maybe things were harder before but this game has very easy going gear/level progression now. You played all those MMOs and you don't know that the good stuff is kept for later? Things start to get very interesting when you start doing HMs, and just get down right exciting and challenging with EMs. And levelling all crafting?!!!! Dude just get your main to lvl 50 and have fun? Gil is basically useless in this game anywys, I guess I'm doing you a big favour by telling you that....

The game isn't dying. Chill out, it's got some unnecessary in it though, 450 tome caps if you play one class/character exclusively really sucks, then CT loot being capped to weekly also really sucks. The reason why I hate these unnecessary blocking points is because if it's based on player retention the players who would play the game to death and leave from boredom are going to leave regardless anyway. It ends up hurting committed players who enjoy the game even with its flaws.

It took me some time to get used to the lack of voice acting in this game (inb4 PS3 limitations), but in all honesty I kind of like it, I get to use my imagination again for what they sound like in some cases like the old days and it's rather nostalgic and refreshing.

I also hated and still hate the fetch quests and back and forth travel questing in this game, but I changed the way I quest to avoid it, if you're questing to level, well get ready to jump back and forth. If you're questing to follow a story, then you won't care. Throw in rushing and your patience will drain fast.

I digress though, the game was impressively developed in a rather short amount of time for MMO standards (even with a skeleton of a game to go off of), with each patch I believe we're getting closer and closer to the vision of the game they had. What we got last Aug/Sept was a fully playable stable beta. We've been in beta still, what we'll have in a years time is the true release version the game should have been, but a company has to make money otherwise you're pissing it away in development hell.
