    New Chocobo abilities/functions/mechanics

    Since most players know what IS coming in the future, namely breeding, its own barn in your garden, skill reset function and the ability to use it whilst in a DF queue - how about some ideas on what you would want from your Chocobo companion that is NOT in that list?

    We know an expansion is in the works but is quite a ways in the future, lets say it also comes with some new things for Chocobos.

    What would your ideas be for really great new things that have not yet been announced or rumoured to be incoming?

    My personal one - more ranks. So the companion can go to rank 15 or 20 or so. What about yours?

    This is what they originally promised us, the chocobos were supposed to have access to the same jobs we did, but then they realized they promised too much, so the half-done implanted system is what we have now, I would just like to see them put in what was supposed to be in at release.

    Just since beta/development and now theres been some problems e.g. massive infastructure hardware expansion due the unexpected sucess and interest at launch (launch month it was hell trying to log-in), then the software to allow more players online-per-world, then some instance bugs, market problems etc...
    Not as bad as it sounds, but it was a series of teething problems that poped up - but to their credit they got the serious ones sorted quickly

    Granted since October its been stable and great (IMO) but I havent played everyday so I can say its been good when I've been online at least, my point is they've had bigger problems and content to work on then the Chocobo's battle mechanics.

    All that said I agree more options for the Chocobos would be nice as people have said colour, barding options, class/abilities and its level-up system.
    Its AI could do with a lil tweeking to avoid AoE as well.

    I was here at launch, it was horrible, that doesn't change the fact that they didn't deliver what they told us they were going to deliver, and I'm not just talking about the chocobos. They had to use all that time to fix all the release problems, because they screwed up the release, no que system, having to get lucky just to get past the title screen with no errors, hoping that the NA servers would actually load for you, that was them screwing up. Crystal Tower was late, housing was late, we still haven't seen personal housing, PvP was late, again no sign of fronlines pvp, treasure maps came late, no free company alliances yet. I'm just wondering how long people like you will keep making excuses making it ok for them to keep tossing out half done content that will be finished at a later time, or maybe it's time for them to stop telling us what they are going to do until they finish what should already be in, that way you won't have people like me bringing up stuff like this whenever they don't come through on what they say, or implement something that isn't thought out in the least (like the ready check, did they just not think that people would use it in the middle of battle to annoy people, because if so they aren't doing their job in my opinion). I know the game was rushed, they made the game in a short time with a short team, I have heard all that, well guess what, you can tell that just by playing, they didn't do anything spectacular with what they had, they did something mediocre, like one would expect with the time and people they had.

    Lvl cap increase would be nice, but then we would need new moves for em.

    Anyway id like to actually have some sort of "real" treasure map hunting when our chocobo is out. It could work the same way treasure hunting was on FFXIII unless that you re not mounted.

    You could use a new type of greens to let your chocobo seek for spots on the ground containing some mats or random gear ( like current maps ) or if you're lucky, chocobos oriented loot.

    You would have to defend him from various mobs waves while hes digging ( there could be different treasure ranks with highest requiring a longer digging time and stronger mobs ).

    You could get different types of rewards, it could go from Gyhsal greens and chocobo Xp buffs items to unique bardings, job chocobos minions, chocobo themed gear and accessories, that when worn, could affect our chocobo's abilities and stats, affect breeding, chocobo speed, lengthen summon time etc...

    Theres tons of stuff we could imagine.

    To expand on this:
    Defender - more stat increases and Flash ability.
    Attacker - more stat increases and damage increase cooldown.
    Healer - more stat increases and dispelling ability.

    That was actually originally in FFXI. Your chocobo's skills leveled up as you found stuff, and while raising your chocobo you could train it to have certain skills which made hunting for treasure much easier. Chocobo breeding n FFXI was very deep. It took several generations to breed a strong one.

    Increase EXP for chocobo!

    And able to use mount chocobo while it's out. But ofcourse, with restriction, you can only use Chocobo mount during that time.
