    Enmity "potency"?

    Hi all. I just started playing as a tank and im enjoying it very much. but im having a bit of issue determining what skills I should be using. All the skills say that they generate enmity, but how do I know how much (a.k.a. potency) they actually generate. I mean, how do we justify at all a rotation without specific numbers?

    In general later steps in combos = bigger numbers. Other than that,

    Shield Oath and Defiance cause you to generate 2x the damage you see in hate (and this stacks with other multipliers)

    Flash: 500 potency (modified by Maim, Shield Oath/Defiance damage penalties, Attack Power buffs like STR potion and Berserk - NOT modified by Fight or Flight)
    Overpower: 5x damage dealt

    Savage Blade, Skull Sunder: 3x damage dealt (600 potency in combo)
    Rage of Halone, Butcher's Block: 5x damage dealt (1300 RoH, 1400 BB in combo)

    Steel Cyclone: 3x damage dealt (also can only be used in Defiance so tack on another x2, ignores the damage penalty from Defiance also so it's kind of worth a little more [or everything else is worth less depending on your perspective])

    Shield Lob/Tomahawk: 3x damage dealt

    Ability use generates 70 enmity
    Provoke puts you at the top of the enmity list +1 (so a blm does 50,000 dmg and you provoke = your hate is 50,001)

    The "Additional enmity" is a multiplier applied to the existing potency, thought the multiplier varies based upon the ability. Combo'd Skull Sunder has a x3 enmity modifier so it generates 450 ePot (150 pot x 3 eMod = 450 ePot); Overpower has a x5 enmity modifier so it generates 600 (120 pot x 5 eMod = 600 ePot); etc. Enmity modifiers from different sources are multiplicative, so the modifier from the tank stance (both are 2x) causes Overpower to generate 1200 ePot.

    The only wonky case is Flash, which doesn't deal damage but generates flat enmity. It's a really wonky case and I can't really find solid numbers or variation based upon mods and whatnot. I *vaguely* recall reading that Flash's enmity is reduced by Shield Oath's damage modifier but not increased by the enmity modifier, but that's really wonky.

    Enmity=damage

    You do 500 damage with a skill? You generate 500 enmity. Then there are special skill(tank's "hate combos") that have enmity multiplier. For example you do 100 damage with a skill, and that skill has x5 enmity multiplier(i can't remember exact multipliers of all skills), so you generate 500 enmity. So more damage you do more enmity you generate.

    Last I checked, Flash is like Second Wind: it is a non-damage effect based on attack damage. Anything that increases attack power (Berserk, STR pots) affects it. Anything that affects damage (Maim, Fight or Flight) does not, because it does not deal damage. Second Wind did not change with 2.1, but Flash might have, so I can't say for certain how the tank stance affects it.
