Dude, what other MMORPG's have you played? Or is this your only one?

I don't know about WOW or EQ or any of the other ones

but I've played Diablo 2, Star wars galaxies and FFXI.

and none of those games had a crappy teleportation system and you had to pretty much walk alot.

if traveling is such a big issue, then this has got to be your first mmo.

You want to keep something that really shouldn't be in this type of game in the first place.

Which is why it messes it up so much

    This is a MMORPG

    A Massive Multiplayer Online RPG

Teleporting like we are now kills that massiveness.

I don't think I'm the only one who wants plenty of areas that are hard to get too and take time to explore.

Not wish upon a freaking menu option and i'm there.

they just need to drop anima, and let you tele from crystal -> node. only

there people with warps and never actually walked to the place talk about BS. even in FFXI you have to touch the telespot before you could use it.

I'm glad the DevTeam has a pretty good track record in seeing through suggestions that are based in hampering the conveniences they're attempting to offer in the first place - or this would be worrysome.

Consider me in the camp of people who think that the side-effect of this idea being the increased difficulty of getting a group together in a timely fashion make it not worth the change.

I honestly think that when Chocobos and Airships come out, people will actually be more reluctant to spend their "get anywhere in a pinch, just in case" points -- at least put this request off until they've been instated for a little while - otherwise these claims are base speculation with no empirical evidence other than the fact people are careless with their anima at present - which is more likely because of a lack of alternative options in the face of not wanting to walk unassisted by chocobos and airships than it is because they're just lazy, soiled, ungrateful casuals.

QFT! I remember playing EQ and how scary that run from Freeport to Qeynos was. Through Kithicor Forest where when night rolled around, the undead began to walk and unless you had Spirit of Wolf, a lot of damn luck, or were high level, you sat by the zone and waited for day to come. Then you had to book it through Highpass Hold, through the narrow passageways and hoped you could outrun anything that gave chase. Only to reach the massive Karana Plains where — besides running for what felt like forever — if you didn't mind the skies for griffons, and keep an eye out for giants, a corpse run was in your near future.

You were a small fish in a huge ocean and EQ made sure you understood that point quite well. And often.

And then the expansion Planes of Power came out, and everyone could just bypass all that. Going from Freeport to Qeynos was now a simple matter of clicking on the Book of Knowledge near Freeport, traveling through the Planes of Knowledge worry-free and then coming back out near the book by Qeynos.

What I liked about FFXI was you weren't given anything; you had to earn it. Want to ride a chocobo? Well, friend, get to level 20 fast and hope you don't aggro anything as you spirit to Jueno. Oh, you're starting city was Windurst? Have fun running across Sauromugue Champaign.

Want an airship pass? Which one? Kazham? Well, grab a friend cause you're going to need someone to talk to as you kill — if you're unlucky — upwards of a hundred Yagudos, Orcs and Quadavs each for the one drop you need. Oh, you wanted the regular airship pass? Grab a couple of friends and free up the rest of your day cause this is gonna take a while.

    Good times, good times. ^_^

This is almost too personal a discussion for the mechanic in question.

The easiest solution is for SE to just increase the anima costs again. Will everyone like it? No. Will everyone care? No.

Will anyone quit over it? Honestly, if they haven't quit yet, I doubt this would be the deal breaker.

There is a fine line, though, between "masochism" and "too easy" and that line is different for every individual. I remember arguing with someone about stat reallocation, and their stand was that it's fine the way it is, if they change it for convenience it becomes too easy to change classes, which as a concept just blew me away... because the entire premise of the armoury system was being able to change at a moment's notice to fit the current situation. But to him, if he didn't have to stop and waste x amount of time in doing it he wasn't happy.

Personally, I can't imagine an MMO where everyone can warp anywhere they want whenever they want from anywhere they want as having any staying power... It's almost like unlocking God Mode in a game, it's fun and novel for a little bit, but more often than not after a few hours of it you have no more interest in the game as a whole. Granted that's a bit of an extreme example and at the same time I can understand that no one wants to spend all their time in transit.

I think near the end of my tenure in FFXI the system worked rather well. Maybe a few NMs needed some legwork, but for the most part nothing was farther than 10 minutes away, if you had taken the time to get the appropriate out posts, assault points or whatever.

I like the idea of having to earn the convenience. Either through national rankings, and out post deliveries, or exploring the world and finding the Tele-Crystals, or assault staging areas or whatever.

Right now I only use anima if I need to be somewhere and I don't want to make people wait for me, because I like walking (it's almost the only thing I like in the game right now).

When a convenience in this game diminishes other aspects of the characteristics that define it as a MMO, it's going to suffer, and we as players will miss out on experiences that we cannot imagine.

Players now have this presumption that teleportation anywhere is a real necessity. When in actuality if anima wasn't introduced or operated differently, it would have been accepted as just a normal part of the game.

Naysayers wouldn't be discussing the time to travel since they couldn't teleport convienently. They would be managing their time, understanding the effort and diligence required and played with that in mind, accepting it as part of the gameplay. No convience necessary.

We really never needed this convienence! SE made us believe we did by giving it to us.

But since being introduced to this game and this huge benefit, we've grown accustomed to this convienence and can't imagine playing without it.

It's like freeloading off of a friend when you should be self-sufficient.
If your convienent friend never fed you, you would have accepted that fact and made adjustments to taking care of yourself.

Now everyone is spoiled and believes their entitled to a system, to a convienence, that is blindly sucking alot of potential from this game.

    Heck yeah

You reminded me of the help I got to get the kazham airship pass
Man oh man, JP players were really helpful.
and then after hitting 30 I already planned on leaving my party and heading to norg. I wanted my sam job quest .

I was on my chocobo trying to get to the zone that lead to norg, I got lost in the jungle and was afraid i was going to get killed when I ran out of chocobo time lol. I was so nervous. I didn't want to die because I think my homepoint was set to bastok LOL. No way in hell i wanted to do all that traveling again. Luckily, I saw a group of people on chocobos and followed them. Happy is an understatement of how i felt when i got there.

And I still hadn't even started my sam quest lol I was just getting started!

    Just add less Anima.. simple.

Make the Cap 50 instead of 100.

This should fix everyones bull about teleporting.

I wouldnt be shocked if they added something like outpost, chocobo summoning, retrace, tractor warping that costed anima.
