Then why change it? If you have to step to a crystal to teleport, which are so abundant, then there really is no difference is there?

Changing it would give more glory to the area you are traveling too. It's a subtle change, ideal for creating more enjoyable places. It's hard to enjoy something you really don't have to work at all to get to.

When you first arrived in your cities, were they not amazing, even just a little bit? Why?
1. It was new to you, you were blind to it's beauty

2. You had to work to get there.

Making it worthwhile. Since you get rid of the 1st reason, instant teleportation makes it not enjoyable anymore because you can experience it's beauty over and over, without any labor whatsoever.

Add just a little bit of chore and it won't deprive it of it's fascinating aura so quickly.
