They need to do something. The current system utterly destroys the sense of world scale. I'm still holding onto the hope that once chocobos and airships are implemented, they'll remove the anima/teleport system completely.

I would suggest only teleporting (without magic items etc) via Aetherytes. If you die, you return to your homepoint (could be homecity or an aetheryte you choose as homepoint). That's exactly what I'm thinking.
Currently if they do use above methods of travel, what were their plans for anima and teleportation all together?
I believe this way you get the best of both worlds.
Slowly reducing our dependency on anima by making us wait/work to travel to our destinations.
Yes, the world suffers at large because of it.
I honestly believe we would enjoy our cities just a tad bit more, regardless of their boredom, if it took more work to actually get there.
It's human nature to be grateful of a fulfillment when you have to strive for it.
No thanks. lame idea is lame. Anima was implemented to get around quickly. That's why Anima is also limited.
That's what I think.
It feels like a cheating tool to jump to different places.
It's an atmosphere killer in this game.
Why should I use cool mounts like ships and airships or chocobos to travel when I can teleport whenever I want. Why do the people of Eorzea have the ability to teleport while they have 'anima'? The game has great graphics and a great beautiful (copy-paste :P) world. Let the player enjoy it. The possibility of fast traveling is okay, but it has to fit with the world and make sense (like chocobos, airships and maybe kind of magic?).
Yes teleport jumping is a problem in that in a world so vast, you are going to use 10% of it. It's no difference then an instance game with scenery.
Making teleporting crystal only does have a good effect (and yes other forms of transportation are also needed at some point).
To offset death warps, make one of the penalties of weakness a deduction in anima. Combine that with various other effects and you have a sizable hinderance.
Sure it'll create a bigger time sink, but the game is a time sink anyway.
If we have all this teleporting around, might as well just create a town and instanced dungeons. Forget the world map.
If the world (ingame) wasn't boring and bland maybe then i would agree, but running for 15 minutes looking at copy and pasted textures isn't all that fun. Run from uld to limsa and if you don't fall asleep halfway all you see is cow's and dodo's

how about you ask for this after chocobos are instated.SE Dev team please ween us off of this "Jumper" ability and limit it's use to only around an Aetheryte.
I can't speak for everyone but I've been spoiled by it.
Treading to our crystallized wonders won't kill us plus they're already positioned in the right places.
Make us at least work for where we have to go.
Initially, you'll hear grumps; In the end we'll appreciate everything more.
Jobeto-
"and maybe kind of magic", Oh like anima. That's what I think.

this whole idea is just a time sink and would make forming partys take much longer. i enjoy being able to put a group together in less then 30 minutes.
True, but through those implemented means, we are missing out on subtle things that would create an overall better game for us.
Imagine going to the zoo.
You walk to the kiosk displaying the locations of the animals and or exhibits.
So, while heading towards your designated area, you could be halted by the glorious roars from the lions.
You take a passage way underground, only to stand in awe at the oceanic whales.
Walking so close to a gate that you almost jump out of your skin, from an agile simian screaming at the top of it's lungs.
As you finally get to your designated area, you reminisce on that small journey not even realizing you still haven't even seen what you really came for!
The zoo. It's a place to experience, be taken by the beauty of it's nature and all that went into it's creation that allows us to bask in it.
Or...you could just anima/teleport straight to the ice cream stand, teleport to the dolphin show, then teleport home.
Just saying...
