i feel as though the market wards are fine for now.. move on with something else. like O say. content??
I love the market wards in their current incarnation. I don't see the need to put in a list AH just because a bunch of Verucas are too lazy to spend the extra 30 seconds required to go pick up their item. Honestly, that's all it comes down to.
The only valid concern, to me, is the whole plus item thing. You can't currently tell what is a plus item and what is regular. I'm sure that will be addressed in short order.
I don't want an AH, the Market Wards could just use a little more tweaking as it already works well.
Wards as it currently stand is a bad imitation of AH. Except with slower responses, more hassle, more lag, and generally cumbersome.
It's like Making a bad attempt at AH and then put lots of lipstick on it.
It's not making an AH for the sake of not making an AH. In the end, just throw the stupid AH up, and make wards into something useful. Waste of resources trying to balance everything from retainer crashing to graphics loading.
Any old AH can be made in a matter of days, a week if you want to put some lipstick on the GUI. It's basically a database front end with pre-made search filters. An intern can make that for sakes.
It probably takes 10 times the effort to do something to wards/retainers then it is to make an AH from scratch. Complexity for the sake of Complexity.

One of the biggest issues facing the market wards is overpopulation and retainer placement. When a ward becomes full, say the weapons ward, everyone trying to sell weapons will have to take a penalty because they put their retainer in a different ward. And then everyone that sells multiple, different types of items also takes a penalty on some of them for not being in the right ward.
In reality, the only issue about market wards that was solved was item search. Every other problem still exists and will likely not go away until it's turned basically into an AH (it's not an AH yet).
To the people who think market wards prevent price fixing: you're wrong. Anything steel on wutai is far more expensive than any other server.
To the people who think the market wards prevent price gouging: you're wrong. Every day I have to drop my prices to be competetive.
To the people who think the market wards add immersion as well as make the game more interesting and unique: you're right, but it's at the cost of efficiency and consistent crashes in ul'dah wards.
Once PS3 launches, and we start paying for a subscription, how many retainers do you think the average person will have, I know I would want at least four, 20 items isn't enough to sell at once, 40 slots should cover the mess that is NQ,+1,+2,+3. There's no way in hell Ul'dah will go more than 12 hours without crashing.
I for one vote for AH, I'll take convenience over immersion any day. It wouldn't be that huge of a sacrifice anyway, and tbh I wouldn't miss the retainers Adolf and Hitler at all.
Well articualted points and I agree wholeheartedly.

They just need to give us an AH, why fight server stability with thousands of people crowding uldah and putting their stuff in retainers. The wards are stuffed to the seam and crashing because of it. With an AH that would be a lot less stress on the servers.
I vote for an Auction House after the main fixes to the game are addressed.
I would like to see the Market Wards evolved into a true Market that is a zone of the city (and actually looks like it's part of the city). All shopping in a single zone, no multi-zone. There would be a central search desk to help with quick searching. Retainers would have to be in basic stalls or more advanced properties. A basic stall could be rented by the day - with the option of multi day rental. The advanced properties could be purchased and improved by the player. You should be able to hang out a sign to indicate services/goods offered. Improve your property by adding advanced crafting support capabilities. Post a list of goods than can be purchased on order for other customers to select from. Things of that nature.
