I'm all for more variety in tank and healer options. MMOs like to give us a million different ways to dps, but if we want to tank or heal, we only get a few, narrow flavor choices.
The difference is in game design, warriors in Tera were only as good at their skill to use them, there was no passive evasion there, you will dodge attack only if you use the skill in the right time. There is no way a tank like that would work in here with this lag and EU server sitting across Atlantic Ocean from EU.

Releasing a 3rd Tank ultimately isn't going to affect the # of players interested in tanking.

    It's a 'Band-Aid fix' at best.

Tanking with this new class with see a spike for a short time as it'd inevitably become FotM, but that's all it would do.

    The real solution?

Do level-appropriate leves with your DPS class while you wait for your queue or make friends with a tank or healer.

If you want more people to play tanks and healers then stop being so harsh on them when they fail, make mistakes, or are learning. They are high pressure jobs. I've never seen a gaming community this harsh on its tanks before till this game. Ask a lot of people and they tell you they would rather play healer or dps for extremes, coil, or anything that has a lot of pressure on you. Why? Cause they are afraid of making mistakes and ppl hating them, calling them noobs, etc... Ya'll did it to yourself.

Want more tanks, send out an APB. Start being nice and forgiving when it comes to ppl trying.

Had to be said by someone.

The problem isn't really a lack of tanks. Though if they do add a new tanking class I'll certainly level it up. The problem is that after tanks are 50 and beyond darklight there is very little reason for us to queue for anything. I have both warrior and paladin leveled and I have absolutely no reason to get philosophy tomes. So main scenario and low level duty roulette are completely useless for me. They need to come up with far more compelling rewards if they want to convince tanks that these things are worth doing.

Why do people still think more tank classes = more tank players?

Because certain jobs attract certain players. There were people playing NIN tank in FF11 who would otherwise never have touched a tank job (funny because NIN wasn't intended to be a tank, but that's beside the point). Some players choose their class by role, but many (probably the majority) do not. They pick what looks cool and interesting to them, and whatever that job does, they'll play it. If Dragoon armor were simple grey armor with no spikes, I doubt we'd even have "loldrg" to joke about.

Exactly. People have job identities more than they have role identities.
Just cause you play one dps doesn't mean you'd play another. Same for healer.
If you add more tank jobs, there will definitely be people who don't like the current tanks that would like that.

Not to mention that simply adding a new class will always lead people picking it up just to try out the new thing.
It may be temporary, but at least more people will try tanking cause of it and the stigma will be lessened.

One of the reasons I don't tank is that I have all my tank accessories and weapons already from the primals because of the easy queues. So why would I bother to tank unless I can roll on other gear? Also for people that level tank classes as an alt job, setting an item level of 80-85 basically bars them from ever joining your party even if they can easily beat it.

I really wish everything was made so that people could play what they want to play and still beat a dungeon like 7 blms and one whm. No more waiting in df just ques up and go have fun.
