    WoW Deathknights had CD rotation options... it didn't work- why rotate CDs when other tanks passively mitigate? They ended up redesigning them to make tanking easier.

    Overly complicating a class to get results on par with others makes for a poorly designed class- not an interesting or played class. See WoW warlocks for example.

    Currently, the only idea I would have for a new tank class would be magi-tech based... with passive mitigation via "tech gear" (basically like current mitigation gear but with clearly tech graphics... and skills that deploy tech - such as instead of taunt, have a hypnotic beam. If nothing else it would be clear who the tank is taunting via the beam. Players seem to like shooting beams.

    Instead of a plain tank CD, activate a force generator that puts of a visible field....or armor that deploys and covers the body.

    Since tanking is pretty bland, you could spice it up with interesting and unique visuals... that might help. I could definitely see some really cool tech based weapons being a draw for players.

    Then they made all the tanks rotate CDs and you had an actually varied and interesting tank system.
    With tanks that were more diverse in playstyle than the watered down dps in that game. And amazingly, all were about the same in terms of viability.

    There are other ways to have creative tanking. But this game does follow the WoW model to some extent.
    It should at least take what WoW did right.

    You say it didnt help but there is a clear difference in heal que times between lvl 1-29 (where we have only 1 healer class with conjurer) and lvl 30-50 (where we have 2 healers with SCH and WHM).

    More tank classes certainly wouldnt make dps ques fast but it would help.

    wont lie, kinda the point in playing a warlock at end game was because it was regarded as more complicated then other classes, its why i played it, wasnt a case of it doing more damage, its flavour and style of play, people mostly chooses classes that suit their style, something that is complicated is fine, if other people couldnt do decent damage, then nothing wrong with that, bleeding edge progression wasnt for them.

    hate to say it but what it would take to get more tanks in is... dumb down the mechanics =/

    People don't want to play tank because they think it is "hard(er)" than the other classes.

    If it was easier I think for tanks to get and hold agro, that may alleviate some of the abrasiveness for new tanks to stick with the job. Too often I have seen tanks get flack for losing hate then they quit mid dungeon.

    Don't get me wrong. I would LOVE another tank in the game. The more the better I say. Hell, if that's what it takes to get RDM in?!

    Hmm... Riftstalker is a pretty viable tank... Warriors in TERA were/are also perfectly viable without being OP.

    I'm all for more variety in tank and healer options. MMOs like to give us a million different ways to dps, but if we want to tank or heal, we only get a few, narrow flavor choices.

    The short answer is, there is nothing that can be done to the classes which will make tanks played more.

    Things like adding a third class, making tanks more "fun" to play etc etc, these will do nothing to help because bottom line, people don't play tanks not because it's boring (because let's face it, every other class is just as boring if you think tanks are boring), the real answer is the DPS. People like to see the big hits, people don't want to worry about the party as a whole, people want to have the easy job and feel good.

    At this stage, the only real ways to improve the tank shortage (this is a community opinion, imo, tanks are not in shortage, yes they get faster queue times because not as many people play tanks but the queue times also aren't ridiculous for me in my opinon when queuing as a DPS) is to change the party composition. So 4 mans will still be the same but the 8 mans will have to be redesigned for solo tanking. This kind of change is of course, extremely unlikely since basically every end game content at the moment is designed and scaled for 2 tanks 2 healers and 4 dps.

    Therefore, no matter how many tank classes they pump out, it's not going to improve the people who play your harder roles in general. The people who play tank will keep playing the tanks and the people who play DPS are hoping for other DPS or healers to switch to tanks (not thinking that all the DPS are under the same mindset so nothing changes). The most common excuse is, oh the tanks class is so boring, if they were more fun i would play it but that's a load of bollocks since tanking is tanking. Even if you are saying the tanking class right now is boring for you because it is too easy for you so you don't want to play it or that they don't do enough damage. Because if they don't do enough damage that's because that's not their role, and if they're too easy for you, then I don't see how being a DPS is any harder. The real reason 99 % of the time is, you just don't want to play that role either because you're no good or you just like doing DPS more.\

    Having said this, I don't oppose class variety but adding a new class isn't going to solve any shortage issues, at least not in end game.

    An additional tank would reduce the que times, because the tank to dps ratio will improve. People will want to try it out or eventually level that class up.

    Maybe for you- but the class representation went through the floor. One could argue that the mechanics to achieve parity made the class detrimental to a cutting edge guild that could use simpler classes to the same effect. There is a reason they revamped the mechanics..
