We need to have a FFXI style AH

by that I mean have it so you can't see how much people are putting stuff up for. Just show the Sale History. The Market boards no sense in that sometime I have an item up for one price and someone comes along and puts it for the same price yet theres goes ahead of mine. So mine ends up in AH longer while this other guy who just put it up gets to sell theirs first. Another big problem is people undercutting by 1 gil to sell theirs first. That's ridiculous and unfair to people who have lives and can't constantly check the markets to adjust accordingly.

The markets have become a frustrating game of trying to out sell the others which ends up just crashing the price on items. It's getting to the point where I don't even wanna play anymore. Adding the treasure maps is a nice fun way to fight mobs and try to get items to sell with friends or with your FC to make money towards maybe a home, but once you get the items it's a pain in the rear to try to sell with the Market as is.

Ah, it amuses me how quickly people forget. When was the last time you played FFXI? The AH has not really been used heavily in several years dating back to really before WotG was released. That being said the undercutting is crazy but as a buyer people are not going to complain. For me as a crafter/gatherer, sure I would like to make more money but I really have no need. I farm all my mats and even when people undercut me on say HQ food, I can still make money even when they hit the rock bottom cost they paid for the mats.

So what about those people that list crap up for the vendor price and people who are willing to try to bid that actually get it for that price? The FFXI blind bidding style won't fix this.

The only thing they can do to encourage standardized pricing is to put something like a 5% listing fee and charge you every time you change your listed price, but then the economy essentially drifts from capitalism to socialism.

1 gil undercut wouldn't be such an issue if the majority of the playerbase wasn't so ignorant on how the market boards/taxes work. That 9999 Ul'danian item you're trying to buy from Limsa when there's one for 10000 in your city? Saved so much gil! - and by saved, I mean paid more.

Tax Rates are all "Normal" right now for all areas. We are dealing with a relic from 1.0, its similar to the elemental affinities of mobs.

Undercutting happens with FFXI-style AH. I don't see the point of changing the marketboard to an AH. I think adding an upfront listing fee may help.

However, the FFXI-FFXIV comparison isn't relevant. FFXIV has essentially unlimited resources (nodes are always available to all players). FFXI had limited resources in many aspects.
