Best US server to start on?

Trying to find the best new player friendly server to start on, get in a guild, lvl to max and start end content.
I know one of the answers I'll get is whichever you prefer is the best, but I'm trying to get into and transition into this game rather simply. If there are any guilds that do end game that's recruiting and see's this that'd be easy as well if I can just get recruited into yours.
I'm a lax players that's been playing MMO's for years and have been looking forward to this since I was in beta for it.
But back to the question at hand, best place to start where the community is friendly enough for a good time.

Anything that doesn't have legacy on it should be fine. Each server has it's own separate community.

What's wrong with legacy servers? I started on one and I'm doing just fine.

There's nothing "wrong" with legacy servers, it's just that they can have a more established (older) community and some people may have a more difficult time taking root in such a way. And even working on lower level alts, people try to motor through stuff simply because they know how to do it already. If I somehow offended you, I'm sorry.

People tend to think legacy servers are tedious because some people expect that you might already grasp some concept of the fight ("1.0/legacy") and tend to lash out more often then they should. This probably won't happen as often on a non-legacy server. Not everyone is like that, but even on Hyperion there are those certain types of people that will come down on you a bit strongly. Even though it's not right to have this kind of mindset.

    Edit:
Also the economy on some of the Legacy might not be as welcoming as some of the new branded servers. Expect some overpriced items where it's not needed. Especially on Hyperion. xD

    Welcome to Eorzea!

I don't think there is an answer to "best server".
You'll find a community on pretty much any server. If you want to see what free companies are advertising, the best places to check are the Worlds(Group NA/EU) section. That will give you a feel of how active recruiting is on each server and what groups are looking for.
In general, if you are looking for a community I recommend against the companies that just spam invite without talking to you.
You will also see companies shouting in the starting cities looking for new members. Just send them a tell if they sound appealing.

Our free company likes helping new players and we also have a number of people running end game content, if you are interested. We also have a mix of MMO veterans and non. Our key ideals are patience, teaching, supporting each other, and having fun. We're a wacky bunch.
