Though that may be true there are higher level people who don't like being in a party with someone simply because they are i80 instead of i90 on things like turn 1 & 2.
It's not just people wanting handouts.

I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head.
I think the solution for story roulette is to actually increase the rewards. Make it so you get like 500-1000 Philo Tomes, 100-200 Myth, and maybe with 2.2 some of the new Tomes, but cutscenes are unskippable by all. Throw Cape Westwind into this roulette too.
They have stated that CT will allow you to have a premade alliance in the future. I don't think there are that many issues with CT, just that the majority of what gets vocalized are the bad experiences.
There is no solution to people behaving badly. End-game is just unlucky enough to be cursed to always be at the wrong place and the wrong time.
I suppose you can have a thumbs down button in addition to commendations, but that will just degenerate into a thumbs down war.
Let end-game content be free to be whatever can be and be the best at that, having a design requirement to solve one of the most intractable problems of "people behaving badly" just does NOT make sense.
Heck with all the laws and police in the real world, you will still have the jerk that cut you off on the freeway, or some idiot cussing at the cashier or what not.

Finally someone saying the truth. Anonymity has nothing to do with being a jerk. The Internet has nothing to do with being a jerk. "Real life" abounds with jerks.
A jerk is a jerk, anywhere and everywhere. That's all the truth to it.
No good person will become suddenly bad because of anonymity, but blaming the Internet for our faults is so easy and reassuring. :P
people just love to role play jerks in mmorpg.

This community...its not the worst, but take this for example. Tier 4 of coil is brain numbingly easy to me, you can do it in Darklight if everyone is on their stuff, knowing how to heal , how to tank, how to dps perfectly. But for some reason I find a ton of players, now that we're all in ilvl 80 plus on the legacy servers, that just suck. Just plain old suck, taking too much damage as a tank because they aren't popping the abilities they should be, not doing enough dps because they refuse to cap accuracy first and are just picking whatever gear "looks cool".
These kind of problems may look superficial but what they lead me to believe is that this is a lot of people's first mmo, or that there is a separation between the old school styles of "be the best you can be, look it up when you don't know the answer" and "omg this cool *puts it on*, I just downloaded a patch, but didn't read the patch notes, what was in it? Tell me I'm so selfish I must be told, my time is to precious to read, explain to me the whole game, and how to do it, even though I could just read and actually play".
The people who refuse to look up anything, refuse to take help from people, and just end up pulling us all down create the parties that are super jerk "can't die once etc" because we get tired of wiping 8 times to something we view as being easy. Its sad these jerk groups tend to be better than regular groups ; ; it shouldn't be always that way. I shouldn't have to be a jerk to ensure I get good people with good gear, who know their job.
Just how do we get people to wake up and smell that this content is so easy, and they are turning us into jerks by wiping all the time >< just saying, I don't actually like to be a jerk in game, I will teach a person the fight how ever many times it takes, especially if they are in my fc, or are someone I met who is willing to accept my help. But its just sad that when I join a pf for a jerk group, it tends to be the best group ; ;

I don't get your point? A better community is one where less people suck? Why not play in a static group or using party finder if lack of skill, experience or seriousness bothers you?
I struggle with Garuda HM, and Ifrit HM too for that matter. Am I a bad person? A moron? Inconsiderate? Should Square-enix sack me from my job as White Mage?

True, except usually you're supposed to only friend up with people who are your friends. You get the sort of fcukery you're talking about when people start padding their friendlist to play app games or just for the sake of having over "9000" friends.
So toxic! *coughs*
