I didn't win either and while my picture wasn't the best it was certainly better than some of the winners. I swear I think they pick a handful of sure fire winners and the rest are selected at random. It's also possible that since my forum 'main character' wasn't the right character at the time winners were selected that might have messed things up.

If that's the case then I don't understand how friends post pictures of friends but the rules say you must be within the pic.. If you were disregarded then why are some others perfectly fine?

Hey I haven't won like 6 contests, but it's okay ~ you win some lose some. Pretty sure it's just a luck of the draw sort of thing.

It isn't as well curated as when they had screenshot contests for FFXI, http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/gallery/theme/
Even the FFXI weekly screenshot picks seems more curated than the screenshot contest here.

It seems like any sort of contest that has a inconsistency between the quality of chosen the winners, will receive complaints.
Maybe if the judges left some sort of comment on why they've picked it, people might not get as bitter over the choices?...

That would be a great idea that I certainly can support 100% I would love to know why some that were picked were picked. Again to reinstate I like many of the winners but there are a couple that just leave one wondering why. The above poster stated that some where picked probably by the reps while others chosen at random.

I felt like a lot of the winners were questionable. I don't think people should win when their characters are so far zoomed out that you can't even see their expressions or anything. But hey, I'm not one of the people judging these screenshots for the contest, so not much I can do about it.

Every time we have a contest like this, there will be people unhappy with the results or wondering why others were picked instead. Dust off your jeans and try again next time!

(Also, your screenshot doesn't look shopped to me. Maybe the judges don't like girlkas...! ;P)

What is "questionable" about that entry?

Going by the very guidelines YOU posted in your initial complaint.

The screenshot must be taken by the user submitting. Check.
Please do not submit images of only NPCs or backgrounds. Check number two.
Make sure you character is visible in the screenshot. Check number tres.
You may not use image editing software to alter, enhance or add more features to your screenshot. Check number bingo bango bobbity boom.

So what is questionable about it then? The only thing you bothered saying about it was whether it "shows great effort went in".

You got upset because you didn't win. You went through every single entry nitpicking for an imaginary instance of SE breaking their rules. You accuse one of the winners of using photoshop to win and when confronted with direct evidence against that claim instead of admitting you may have been wrong and accepting the loss you go on the defensive over being "one upped" and decide to start questioning winners over their perceived "effort" compared to your glorious submission.

If you can't pick out where along that series of events you should have grown up then here's a hint... it's everywhere...

I got the last laugh on page 1 when I posted the Stuffed Moogle and destroyed what seems to have been the sole point of their entire argument.

I would have dropped it there and then but instead of owning up to their mistake they called me out for it as "one upping" them and doubled down by claiming that there were more rule defying entries out there beyond their first example. Now unable to provide a single other example they've lowered themselves to calling out winners based on the perceived "effort" they put into their entry all while remaining indignant about the entire affair.

It's one thing to complain about not winning, hell I did that in the doppelganger contest. But trying to cover it all up by whining about the rules being broken and using the pretext to take a dump on other peoples entries... that doesn't sit right with me.

OP was trying to point out that while I have lost many times, I still keep trying. Sometimes when people lose we feel frustrated and point to other things but take it as a way to improve the next time around. I'll keep doing the events as much as I can. Hope to see you there as well - win or lose.
