You can mix pigments with clearcoat enamel/varnish to make translucent paintjobs for metal surfaces, so it'd be quite possible to have colored armor that retains a metallic sheen.

Thank you very much!Greetings,
After looking over the requests and feedback, the graphics team has decided that when adding metallic equipment in the future, even if dyes are used, the metallic quality will be maintained and not appear to be painted over. They also mentioned that they will be looking into doing this for existing equipment as well, but they would like to prioritize new equipment.
I'm really happy I wil be able to choose the colour without losing armour shiny looks.
Does this apply to clothes shades too?![]()
Now this is what I like to see. Square actually taking in ideas/feedback from their customers. Keep up with this, and you'll have much happier customers.Greetings,

Well, in this case it really is asking them to be lazy about their work because we can't appreciate it so hey, more power to them.
I might be reading this wrong, but it almost appears as if you've said "We're asking THEM to be lazy"
We were told the reason why, and as much as most people would agree with their usual thoughts on "What happens in real-life", for this occasion if felt like an unnecessary consideration especially one that in some ways can counter-act the original effect of the piece you're wearing.
Thumbs up, development team!

Thank you for taking the feedback of myself and the community and finally adding metallic dye options!
This is a great way to add more variety to gear!
As well as Pure White/Jet Black

So....where are these dyes that aren't in the patch notes?
Hmmm it has a green icon.
They're in a future patch. They've just updated the dye interface to include the as-yet-unimplemented category for previews.
