A lot of people have been involved in the beta and they've been giving lack luster results, reporting that it's boring and doesn't introduce anything new to the genre. Then again, some people may want to play it simply for the story/lore. Only time will tell. As with any new MMO launch, you'll see an exodus from a number of games over to it to see what it's like, then grow bored of it and come back to the game they were into already.

So...basically FFXIV ARR? ESO actually gets you more involved than ARR does - it doesn't bring anything new to the table, like ARR, but it does the 'standard' better. I did a test by doing the same exact thing I did in my early start of ARR and no surprise it felt exactly the same, even the exact same quest types in almost literally the same exact order to "teach" you the game.

I honestly enjoy ARR more than ESO. I really wanted ESO to be my next MMO after all the hype my friends have for it (and then I was the only one that got in the beta), but it really is very lackluster as of the last beta test. I'm almost considering not bothering with the one that starts (started?) today. I'm sorry that you feel that both ESO and ARR on equally bad, because I felt ESO was *really* bad.

Everything I've heard of ESO makes me think it'll crash and burn hard..

Back on topic.. was hoping 2.2 would hit a little earlier in March, but it is what it is, I'd agree we'll likely see an all day maint. the 24th, with the servers coming back up early the 25th though.

That's the thing - Both are basically the same MMO and playing another "NEW" MMORPG that's basically nothing new to the genre (Like ARR) really shows you what became of this genre and how similar almost every "new" MMO is to one another to the point your same routine pretty much works in any. The only difference, obviously, would be systems for example instead of clicking a mail icon, you go to a moogle instead. I severely dislike the Elder Scrolls game but ESO pretty much plays out like any MMO you can get into these days.

Wasn't saying both were "equally bad", saying that if you can feel that ESO brings nothing new to the genre and has the same 'routine', the same can be said about ARR.

ESO doesnt offer much to fans of the series except very watered down versions of elder scrolls elements. And the combat is far too simple to hold MMO vets for the long haul imo. Itll have its following like most MMO but after the last few years of high hype/budget mmos failing hard shortly after launch im not concerned about losing too many from ARR.

Eso is so bad and boring, not to mention the absolutely horrible character animations ... its defo a pass haha. It just look like an expensive Darkfall. And Wildstar is not even half good too.

EQN, EQN but until then, FFXIV is the only good, not bugged, enjoyable mmo out there, just profit.

Does the standard better? No, it doesn't. It bored me to tears playing through the betas. I wouldn't touch ESO with a 10 foot pole or even play it if someone decided to buy it for me and give it free. But that's me.
