Undying Flames

“My Lady!” the Dragon Knight shouted. Lady Lynn holding a letter while withholding tears, “We cannot give up hope… send the remaining knights to hold the southern airways”, said Lady Lynn. “My Lady, the town is in flames and as our Lord’s last request, he ordered me to take his family away from Dragons Wing to Ishgard which is west”, the Dragon Knight said while also holding back tears. “I cannot believe that the Garlean Emperor's Sons would be such cowards, to have attacked us after their Fathers' loss of the dual to our Lord” said the Dragon Knight. “The Garleans seek the destruction of the Gods, and this heinous act outside the realm of chivalry will go unnoticed by Lord Bahamut” said Lady Lynn. “Where is Padme?” said Lady Lynn while grabbing her bow. “My Lady, she is flying the injured King back to Ishgard” said the Dragon Knight. “Send word to Padme that her final order is to take my children and flee to a safe location within Gridania… My kin will protect them” “what about you my Lady?” “The Demon Archer of Gridania will sing her final requiem with her bow… Now go!” “Yes my Lady”
Lady Lynn entered the chamber that her children were in. “My children, Padme is to take you away from this battle to my kin in Gridania” said Lady Lynn as she looked at her crying children. “I should have sent our troops with Warwolf” said Kaiser while tears fall from his face. “My Son, you are now Lord of the Lionguard and you have your Captain… you must be brave” said Lady Lynn. “The town burns Mother! I must enter battle to repel the flames” yelled Demitrix with tears also running down her face. “Remember what is written in the Book of Phoenix” said their mother. “The Lionguard will never be defeated as long as Lord and Captain stay true to Bahamut’s Code” said Kaiser. “What about you Mother?” said Kaiser. “I will remain here with Nox and hold back the flames of war from reaching the other city states” said Lady Lynn. “Nox will enter the battle?” said Demitrix in disbelief. At that very moment the roof of the chamber was torn open. A medium sized dragon swooped in and seized the two children. Lady Lynn smirked and said, “Padme would stay to fight with me and send her dragon to take my children to our home… what a good friend she has always been.” “This is Ember, one of the many children of Nox who are kin to us and Padme’s trusted dragon, she will fly you to a safe location. Only return when you hear that it is safe” said Lady Lynn. Lady Lynn handed Demitrix the letter from her Father. “Do not forget who you are” said their Mother as Ember took flight. The heat was intense as the two flew away into the horizon. Every Dragon Knight that they passed sped back to Dragons Wing to defend the town. Demitrix and Kaiser looked back and saw the massive Nox destroy a huge Garlean carrier. “They are outnumbered… Turn around!” screamed Kaiser. Ember continued towards the southern airways with disregard to Kaiser’s order. Many hours passed and suddenly Ember gave a huge twitch that awoken Kaiser. Tears ran from the Dragon’s eyes. With what felt like a tear in reality, Demitrix and Kaiser both envisioned the death of Nox and the fall of the town as if it was some sort of echo. The two fainted from the vision.
“Hi! my name is Padme and you’re safe here at my home” said a cheerful voice. “I see you are riding Ember, which means that my Mother must have sent you two to play with me” said the Miqo’te with pink hair. “Looks like Ember is sleepy, so we can’t go flying” said Padme. Suddenly the ground shook and a massive roar was heard. The same feeling overcame Demitrix and Kaiser from before. “I Bahamut will engage the Garlean Empire to avenge my Daughter… My kin will fly at nightfall” said a strong voice. “Did you hear that voice?” said Demitrix. “Yes” said Kaiser. “No” said Padme looking with horror from the great roar outside. Ember had awoken, and looked at Kaiser, Demitrix, and Padme. A tear ran from her eye and she took flight. “She must’ve been summoned by my mom” said Padme. Demitrix opened the letter and began to read as her eyes brimmed with tears.

My love,
It is said that Demons steal the hearts of men. What better title suits the woman I love? You were once called Demon Archer. Although you have given up your past name, your arrows still pierce my heart like the day we first met. Golden were the days of our youth. I am on my way back to you my love.

Forever Bound,
Antaine

Demitrix began to cry. As her tears landed on the parchment different words began to form. Demitrix ran to a stream near the house and dampened the parchment. The words began to form legible sentences.

My Love,
I dueled and defeated the Garlean Emperor in hopes that it will spare Ishgard from the flames of unnecessary war. I am mortally wounded with dark magic. I cannot spare the time to come home. I must warn Lord Bahamut of the Empires true intent. I fear that the Emperor’s Sons will send legions after me to deter my message to the Dragon God. I cant believe that the Empire will attempt to kill Gods. Take Kaisersose and Demitrix to Ishgard. I fear the seventh umbral age is about to begin.

Forever Bound,
Antaine

“Demi?” said Kaiser who didn’t notice what Demitrix was doing. “Yes Kai?” said Demitrix. “Dragons Wing has fallen, Nox is dead, and Bahamut is engaging the Empire” said Kaiser. “Kai! You better..” said Demitrix before she was cut off by Kaiser. “I will never yield a lance as good as you, but I swear on the Lionguard that I will personally destroy the Empire!” screamed Kaiser. Kaiser picked up an axe and began cutting away at an old tree. “I will be with you for when we do battle the Empire… and we will have the Honor of Lions and the Strength of Dragons” Demitrix said while grinding her teeth. “Stop it you two!” yelled Padme even louder. “Are you trying to get woodsin?” said Padme. Kaiser and Demitrix began to look at each other and started to laugh. “We will need to train” said Kaiser. “We will form a new clan” said Demitrix. “The Shattered Union of The Republic” said Kaiser. “Count me in!” said Padme.
