    Help decide my class

Very generic/overused thread topic i am sure, but im getting into FF14 real soon after trying the PS4 beta and finding out i can get the full PS4 version for free when it comes out if i buy it on PS3 now.
Mainly i want to play for fun, and keep in mind its on console so no class that really requires like perfect aiming with the mouse (targeting can be annoying).
Melee classes seem the best fit for a controller, since they are more action based, but as long as no magic classes basically require perfect aiming then its fine, its just a concern i have with PC ported titles.
Just looking for suggestions on a good/fun class to use, i don't want to play a class that just spams the same few abilities (although i obviously realize this is what it might become at the end anyway), any classes with multiple play styles/a bunch of useful skills that you can choose between.

    Hi,

    Try a pugilist(monk) or lancer(dragoon)
But really you could be anything. From what you say maybe not a healer or a tank at first. But an Archer(bard) might interrest you as well.

Please note that there is no aiming in the game except placing some ground AOEs. With a controller you just have to learn to switch targets (there are several methods).

    Have fun

Thanks for the advice, i never really considered archer but i might try it out and see how it plays. From what i read Monk seems a bit overly complicated but im sure i could figure it out.

Play all of them. Seriously. Its the best way to become well rounded and get a feel for how everything works.

Play the PS4 beta so you can get a feel for each class and then go with whichever class you find the most enjoyable.

Yeah the PS4 beta got me into the game, getting it for PS3 then getting it for PS4 when it releases. Leveled Arcanist to like 17 roughly and Lancer to at least 14, its a little hard to see how the classes will play though just because the cap is 20 it did give me a good idea of the game though.

I say level one of each role at bare minimum...you will like them all. I never thought I would play a tank...but guess what...I do now.
I started with Archer/Bard as my first class and love it to death...give it a shot.

Okay i decided to roll Pug first time round, seems like a really fun melee class.

One follow up question, is it worth it to start crafting/leveling crafting early on/asap? Can i craft better gear for my Pug for any level? Or is it only truly worth it later on?

You can play w/o any crafting/gathering at all. Dungeon loot and grand company items will suffice, and you should level to 50 main combat class as soon as possible to begin farming mythlogy tomes (in current patch you can only get 450 per week) and CT gear.

For your first class, I recommend just taking it up to 50 more or less on its own (Get the other class you need at 15 for your job, but that's it). Should be able to do that easily enough using quests (Keep in mind that going through the main quest unlocks more sidequests in the area the main quest is at) for xp and gear. When you level your other stuff you won't have quests, so that means running dungeons for xp, and crafting gear (I feel dungeons don't drop suitable loot often enough to stay well geared on dungeon loot alone). So, level your crafters and gathers alongside your new classes.
