Coil loot dropped... won't let me have it.

I just finished T1 and T2, and after T2 the Allagan Earrings of Striking dropped, and being a DRG with just the Darklight Earrings of Striking I was over the moon as I was the only melee in the group so I was sure to win them.

But wait... "Need" is greyed out and if I press X on "Need" it tells me the Earrings "aren't suitable to my current class/job"... WTF?!! I am the ONLY one in the group that could possibly roll "Need" and it's telling me I can't?!!

So I hit Greed and hope I get them anyway... WRONG, someone else gets them and I'm left pissed off because of some BS reason, what the hell is that about?!!

What possible reason could it have for NOT letting me roll "Need" when they are blatantly for MY class?!!

Maiming is your class, Striking is Monk. Regardless, that sucks ;/

The loot was not for you.

//EDIT: It's worth noting that DRG can equip Striking accessories, and MNK can equip Maiming accessories, but neither can equip the other's main slots (e.g. MNK cannot equip Allagan Sollerets of Maiming). It's a somewhat peculiar decision to even split Striking and Maiming with accessories, but there you have it.

I could understand it if I was trying to roll "Need" on Earrings of Fending as it has Parry and Vitality stats not geared towards DPS but the fact that there is almost NO difference between the Striking and Maiming accessories they should allow for MNK and DRG to roll need on each others Accessories on drops or at least in situations where there is only 1 physical DPS in the Party that could possibly use it.

    I feel robbed...

its moot anyway. maiming earrings are a turn 1 drop and better.

the only striking you should be getting is the ring...and that is a turn 1 drop too. (make sure to run with a static to get that if you are in one)

Lol...Turn 4, Choker of Striking. All DRG need that.

The Striking Ring is only a *must* if you need accuracy; the Slaying Ring is better if you don't

maiming choker is a turn 2 drop. striking is only useful if your lacking and accuracy, and the myth option gives more crit.

Crit? What? DET is the stat to go for. Not Crit. Crit and SS are secondary, and while Crit is more valued than SS, its not by much (overall, it really doesn't matter too much as long as you stack DET first and foremost after meeting the Acc cap, and aren't hyper-obsessed with min/maxing)

Striking Choker is DET/SS, Maiming and Myth are Crit/Acc (Myth is less Acc/more Crit).
For the rings, Maiming and Striking are DET/Acc (Maiming more DET/less Acc), Myth is DET/SS, Vortex is Crit/Acc.
Earrings; Striking is Crit/SS, Maiming is DET/Acc, Myth is Acc/SS Tremor is Crit/DET.
Bracelets are: Striking is SS/Crit, Maiming is DET/Crit, Inferno is Crit/Acc and Myth is DET/Acc.

EDIT: Unless you need to use another to meet Acc reqs before you can get the better ones (or because its i90 and you have i70), you should aim to get the Striking Choker, Maiming, Striking and Myth Rings, Tremor and Maiming Earrings, and Maiming and Myth Bracelets.
Why the extras? Accuracy. If you don't need Acc, go with the no-Acc accessory. If you do need Acc, fill in as appropriate

Those striking ears are bad for Dragoon anyways to be honest, but they are better than Darklight.
