These two will probably never happen.

Almost no one wants to spend 20 minutes running from one place to another anymore. Most people don't have the patience for it these days. Maybe fewer people would use teleports if they added a more interesting mount system or flying mounts or something. And if instant teleports are ruining your immersion or something, you don't have to use them.

As for best gear craftable, it's already been stated several times that crafted gear will never be on par with dungeon gear. And honestly, there are several good reasons for this. You can't force people to level crafting just to be able to gear their characters competitively. I personally cannot stand crafting on any MMO, and whereas I may level some for melding purposes, I doubt I'd ever actually use them for anything other than low level synthesis for friends or something. Making any materials unsellable forces players to craft. I wouldn't mind crafted recipes being closer to or on par with dungeon gear, but if it's better you completely destroy any incentive for most people to even participate in dungeons.

Most of these threads just devolve into "this isn't FFXI", "WoW clone", "This is fun", "No this is fun" type posts. I really wish people wouldn't go into both extremes with such haste, and maybe realize there is room for middle ground. Personally I think FFXIV is a great game, off to a good start. Plenty left to be desired, and I hope they use what we have as a foundation to breathe further depth into the game. Keep the core casual, for those casual players, but expand upon the casual system to give people room to excel.

We'll use the skill chain example. I loved skill chains, magic bursts, elemental wheels, etc. One can easily recognize this is daunting to a more casual playerbase though, and the slow paced nature of auto attacking, lining up weapon skills, and ancient magic casts, isn't for everyone. So where is the middle ground? Keep the combat system we have in place. The self combos, optimal rotations, and faster pace is something MMOs have evolved into, and many casual appreciate as it keeps their attention. Create a new "TP system". This can involved doing "X amount" of combos perfectly in a row, amount of damage done/taken/healed, amount of up time of buffs (Astral III, GL3, Heavy Thrust buff, Regen, Shields, etc. etc.), think individual limit breaks. Create combo'd limit breaks with different useful effects, not just limited to damage, and make it possible to chain different things, such as a healer "TP move" > caster "TP move" > melee "TP move" > etc.

Instead of the rigid elemental wheel skill chain, to magic burst, keep it closer to casual. One thing I loved as a Samurai in FFXI was watching people who didn't know any better spam a random weapon skill, and I'd just formulate in my head real quick the "closer" and bam skill chain, for some combined damage. Having some "TP type moves" (3-4 per job) that combo with different jobs, would just be a fun addition for everyone. The casual guy spamming it is doing some extra damage + effects on his screen, and the more hard core guy gets his kicks from coordinating with his party and pulling out a team effort. There is so much room to make great systems out of this, and I'd love to see SE do something and get rid of our current 1 button "I win" limit break system.

TL, DR; There is room for middle ground on a lot of these subjects. Instead of arguing with rose tinted glasses, lets realize there is many ways to expand FFXIV into a game with even more success, that will reach out to all types of MMO players.

This is already the case with Odin and behemoth and probably will be when the primal FATE's are added, I hate that Odin is a FATE cause you never get to have a decent fight with him like you do with the other primals. I'd have much rather he had been a dungeon boss. As a FATE all you see is flashy lights that envelope him cause of all the attacks on him. And you never get to see his moves cause there's so much lag. I really don't want to see much more content like this.
It doesn't have to be huge numbers. At least 16 member content?
I don't consider CT as 24 man content. You go in with 7 other people you know, who are the mercy of 16 other random dudes.

Maybe you missed that bit due to horrible formatting. General forum is filled with people stating their opinions on what they feel needs to be changed to keep people around. Also, he titled the thread "Rant,Rambling and Drivel"
Possible. I read the title quickly and came in but the way the structure of the argument was done felt like "THIS IS HOW IT HAS TO BE OTHERWISE THIS GAME WILL FAIL".

I don't like those kinds of post because it is one of those "I speak for everyone" type. I got that off within the first two paragraphs so that's why I sounded off on it.

Having read his reply down in page 2 and stating that it was really a rant of his frustrations, I can come in here with a different perspective. The way it was written felt like a dissertation of what is fun. As soon as someone throws the definition of a word in a thesis-like write up, I tend to throw red flags right away.

I can respect that when you come out and pretty much state it was a rant and can comment by only saying that it may just not be the game itself but the genre as most MMOs tend to go towards the FFXIV route lately and I don't see any shining moment further down the road. No MMOs that are upcoming reflect some of the ideas you posted and it's a shame (having years of MMOs, I can certainly understand where you're coming from), but it's at that point where you have to let it run off into the sunset and then re-evaluate your desires to play an MMO as it is in its current incarnation.

Sad to say but the MMOs of the past with open world conflict and time-consuming content are long gone. You'll mostly see MMOs that come out and go with the "you can do stuff in an hour if you want" deal.

I'm afraid the patches/expansion packs won't fix any of this unless SE changes their direction with the game.

They wont. Patches/expansions will only add new jobs, skills, more dungeons, and more fates. I just don't think this game will be anything like a real mmorpg, it will just be a lobby. Which is fine I suppose, I'm just waiting on Wildstar. :P

Moxas, I hope they do not do any of what your suggesting.

1- Remove all instant to everywhere teleports, add an alternative to go around.
If I want to explore the world or run somewhere I will, I don't need to be forced into everything being an additional time sync.

3- best gear should be crafted, meldable, and HQable, the mats should be from ALL contents in the game, some of those materials can be sold some cant.
No thanks to this crap. Think about it: So the best stuff will be on the MB for millions and then have to farm for it? I would rather kill a big fight a few times for the drops then have to kill thousands of trash for gil. Sorry, but even as a 50 crafter in multiple skills, the economy is too far gone to try and salvage now.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I cannot support yours. I would rather have more exciting content then reasons to just waste time... much less to spend hours farming crap just to pay for over inflated gear.
