    While I disagree that the game isn't fun, I do agree with some of your points. However, if you are to compare XIV to XI then you can't expect a game thats been out for 6 months to compare to a game with many years of development. Almost all of those end game events weren't even out by the first expansion. Pre-Zilart was a game where you leveled and that was basically it. The Japanese complained that there was "nothing to do" at level 50 other than "just level something else" (sound familiar?). I'm not really a huge fan of gear grinding dungeons until the next patch either, but I think we got a lot more content then we realize for a brand new MMO. For what's in this game at the moment, I think it's a lot of fun and attracting a lot more attention than most brand new MMO's.

    I hate the line "if you don't like it, then leave", but you should wait until the first expansion before complaining so heavily about everything. This game is being written off way to quickly for it's content, and not just endgame, but everything between that "hooks you in". All the basics are in place, give them time to fill in the rest.

    This game suffers from being rushed, it is an excuse, and they will ride it for as long as they can, they are split between trying to rush out new progression content and put in side feature content that helps these type games feel more complete, but they are behind, and will stay behind unless they put more manpower on it, but right now they have a comfortable subscription base so from a profit standpoint there is no reason to alter it. XI had a few things that helped to keep people around, but it took a little while to implement it, hell everything about the game took a while, but they were able to release progression content in the form of story, as well as keeping the "other" content relevant for years. This was mostly because of their side grade gear system instead of the patch to patch gear treadmill that is so common in MMOs now. As for story, so far, I know it's only been one patch, if you press it, you can run through new story content in a day or two, leaving nothing but farming gear for the next 3 months until you do it again. I don't have any magic answers of what they can do, I do know we need more things to do that feels worthwhile, they need to give us a reason to play more other than something like "look at my pretty chocobo, that is just like your chocobo, only with a new hat." This game really is just a little bit of meaningful content with the rest of time chasing after your 37 pieces of flare.

    Yup, discard all of OP's arguments by playing the subjectivity card. By all means, keep fooling yourselves.

    No open world content, no feeling of accomplishment, no challenge, no diversity, no sense of community. All key elements of an MMORPG, whereas this is a game where platform players would have an easier time than RPG players.

    I'm afraid the patches/expansion packs won't fix any of this unless SE changes their direction with the game.

    I wasn't throwing out is argument. I was asking for suggestions. I didn't see any suggestions in his rant. It was just a rant. Suggestions are nice.

    (And I I completed my first relic yesterday, and I feel quite pleased with myself. Is that not a sense of accomplishment?)

    Sure, I did a few relics back to back recently... when before Relics were an actual achievement and long time goal and were actually worth more than just being a higher stat weapon, which mind you, has artificial barriers to fully upgrade (myth cap) for now. You know what else sucked?

    Having my Relic Weapon go from this:

    Basically taking out the point of doing the relic in the first place. Now, if they weren't required to get into Coil (activate it in general) and SE actually allowed you to craft alternative weapons or boosted (and readded) the Skirmish Weapons alongside the Titan weapon, you really would have no reason to get it unless you got the +1(Zenith), and even more so you can completely by pass it with the Primal Ex weapons in concept.

If so, while I'm sure your sense of accomplishment was diminished (as you said), I felt very proud of myself for getting my first. My goal when I started was to have the entire white mage set and as of yesterday, that goal was completed. And I am happy. I feel I accomplished something. Maybe you don't, and maybe my goals are low (which I'm sure you are thinking) but I felt like I accomplished something.

    So when someone brings up the relics in this game or a counter to 'challenge' and whatnot, this version really did tone down almost everything to the point even the F2P MMOs from Korea sports more challenge and long term goals...and even better itemization.

    It's easier to balance the way it is now. Not saying I agree with the decision, but that's pretty much what it boils down to in the long run. Hopefully they'll add some more flavor to equipment down the road. Some kind of talent tree would be nice too for character build variety (or at least the illusion of variety). If they're going to steal things from all the other big games out there, there's no reason to leave that out.

    It may be to someone who is newer, but the people in 1.0 realize how laughable the "relic quest" is now. Yoshi-P said it would be more enjoyable, and just like most of his statements these days it was a lie.
