This is what i think they should be doing, im not sure if this will happen with time or not, but i'll list them anyways.

1- Remove all instant to everywhere teleports, add an alternative to go around.

2- Add more maps, alot more, and please i dont want NPCs and buildings everywhere.

3- best gear should be crafted, meldable, and HQable, the mats should be from ALL contents in the game, some of those materials can be sold some cant.

4- add bosses to open world, no i dont mean NMs with low spawn rate, i mean just alot of bosses that pop in like 2 mins from death, and make them drop end game materials, drop rate should be extreamly low, no fear of of claim wars since theres alot of them and should be able to trio them or duo them.

5- open world dungeons would be nice... i doubt they'll ever do this tho.

6- let us have an option to go into dungeons with less than full party.

theres probably more... but thats it for now, hopefully they'll add these with time

They need to cater to low-man and big group play as well. Big man groups should be the default. Low-man groups should be an option once people are geared and skilled enough to do it with few members.

There needs to be intrinsic value in the content. Right now we rush through content because we want nothing other than drops.
This would mean the writers having to spend more time creating the realms lore, story, identity and intricacies.

Again, I must reference XI. Look at the amount of depth in the lore there. And yes, a lot of it was available at launch.

Just a response to those who said I didn't make any suggestions. I highlighted the type of content that has proven to be successful and withstood the deterioration of time. These are better than suggestions, they're guiding principles. Macro, not the micro.

SE have been looking at all of this like pigeons pecking seeds off the ground, where what they need to do is get airborne like a hawk and look at the larger picture - "where is this going and what hurdles are we going to face". Well, that may be too late. They might actually get a sobering "How the f_ck did we mess up again?"

While I don't mean to defend the storyline for FFXIV (it's a bit wretched), FFXI had FAR less at launch than FFXIV did. The main scenario ended with the defeat of the Shadowlord (and it took a couple updates before that content was even released), the entirety of the world consisted of four cities, about a dozen overworld zones, several dungeons, and a bunch of quests, only a few of which provided any lore and were mostly fetch quests or talk-to-the-npc.

To be sure, the zones and dungeons were in general larger than the areas we have in FFXIV, but they were also more boring, both in appearance and in the fact that traversing them took so long.

Don't take this to mean that I don't like FFXI - I loved it, and still play it fairly regularly alongside FFXIV - but FFXI had more content at launch than FFXIV? Absolutely not. It had less, but folks were far less likely to complete everything because it took so much longer to DO anything.

I just wish FFXIV's storyline was as interesting as the Shadowlord storyline was. The cliches in FFXIV run fast and furious, and I don't think there was a Garlean NPC who I coudln't tell exactly what they were going to do long before they did it. ;_; The primals are kind of cool, though; I enjoy how each seems to have different motivations while still resorting to brainwashing and enslaving their patron races to do it: Ifrit wants conquest and to be worshiped, Ramuh and Titan both want to protect their people, and Garuda's just flat-out insane. Yeah, the Beastmen are far more interesting than the evil empire.

Just nit picking. Unless they plan to remove gear dropping from bosses (or you know go hog monkey with CT style gear drops and have one gear drop per week, for everything) this isn't possible.

The others seem fine (except for the all teleports thing. That'll just make things far more tedious. Fewer Aetherytes, sure. None at all, please...no, and the open world bosses. I want them to take a long time to spawn, then spawn at random places.)

These two will probably never happen.

Almost no one wants to spend 20 minutes running from one place to another anymore. Most people don't have the patience for it these days. Maybe fewer people would use teleports if they added a more interesting mount system or flying mounts or something. And if instant teleports are ruining your immersion or something, you don't have to use them.

As for best gear craftable, it's already been stated several times that crafted gear will never be on par with dungeon gear. And honestly, there are several good reasons for this. You can't force people to level crafting just to be able to gear their characters competitively. I personally cannot stand crafting on any MMO, and whereas I may level some for melding purposes, I doubt I'd ever actually use them for anything other than low level synthesis for friends or something. Making any materials unsellable forces players to craft. I wouldn't mind crafted recipes being closer to or on par with dungeon gear, but if it's better you completely destroy any incentive for most people to even participate in dungeons.

Moxas, I hope they do not do any of what your suggesting.

1- Remove all instant to everywhere teleports, add an alternative to go around.
If I want to explore the world or run somewhere I will, I don't need to be forced into everything being an additional time sync.

3- best gear should be crafted, meldable, and HQable, the mats should be from ALL contents in the game, some of those materials can be sold some cant.
No thanks to this crap. Think about it: So the best stuff will be on the MB for millions and then have to farm for it? I would rather kill a big fight a few times for the drops then have to kill thousands of trash for gil. Sorry, but even as a 50 crafter in multiple skills, the economy is too far gone to try and salvage now.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I cannot support yours. I would rather have more exciting content then reasons to just waste time... much less to spend hours farming crap just to pay for over inflated gear.
