Yeah =/God, I really hate how they're taking a step back sometimes.
I don't get the whole appeal of auto-mapping... Is it that hard to imagine that our characters walk around with a world map? I just find it annoying that I'll now have to walk to places I don't give a rats ass about just for the sake of completion.
I mean, I'm all for exploring, but going into areas that have no use or lack anything interesting is pretty pointless. Although, I have collected all the aetherites, so...I dunno lol
This one is regarding map markers.

I would like to answer regarding saving method for the markers (below suggestions)
Please make the marker information client side. Also (including macro information) but be able to save the information on the server and be able to load the information on another PC or PS3, just like FF11
I would also like to add on since I would really like this feature.
When in net cafe or connecting from the hotel if you can load the information from the server it will match my environment so it would be great.
When making the information saved on client side, it's possible that the markers everyone placed may get shifted (moved around) once the overall map changes are made.
This is a troublesome issue but due to above reason we don't want to implement something that's not working correctly, so we are looking into implementing this one by saving the information to the server side.
For the implementation timing; it is same as what we have mentioned in the past (they said when server change/repair is gonna be made) so if you have any further suggestions please let us know.
Well they did say they have that guy from Eorzea Ironhart who already completed the map so I'm guessing it's more like you have his map and you are making changes to it? like nanawa mines his map shows all the path but actually some path is closed off due to rocks blocking the path. And for the new maps you have to either obtain the map through quest or whatever or you actually walk to make you own map.God, I really hate how they're taking a step back sometimes.

Personally I'm all for this auto-mapping changes since I'm old school RPG player lol
I should wonder when the map changes will actually go into effect; they've been very vague about that. Jump has seen a similar outcome. At one point it was confirmed beyond a doubt that it was coming, now it's just sort of faded into obscurity without even any mention in the future patch notes.
words that often returnonce the overall map changes are made.

jump is pointless
^^ Couldn't agree more. I'm sure it sounds simple but there is animations for each race and i'm sure objects may need to get reworked so you don't get stuck at all the crazy angles u land. Not worth the investment at all.
think you missed the point
I assumed you were drawing a parallel between map reconstruction and jumping. How they have both been initially mentioned, got us all excited, and then no more details have come out. That is how I interpreted your post. However, I went off on a tangent and agreed with Forbin.
