JP side has a thread going about new races, players are talking about other races aside from male miqote or female roegadyn; race that is not FFXI related... like goblin, or amarja just for fun. Reps responded to this one.

新種族の可能性についてプロデューサーの吉田を突撃してきました。
Attacked Producer Yoshida regarding possibility of new race.

新種族についてはすごく先の話になりますが、様々な改修も終わり、PS3のローンチも行い、
拡張というタイミングになったら、FFXIVの世界観に沿ったオリジナルの種族は追加していきます。
まずはPS3にあわせルガディン女など現在の種族で足りない性別を追加します。
そして、その次の段階として新種族を検討していきます。
It will be really long time but after finishing different modifications, after PS3 launch and when it's time to add expansion, would like to add original races that matches with FFXIV world. For starters Roegadyn female and current race missing genders will be included with PS3, and after will look into new races.

JP side asking to update the local leve in journal so it shows a complete icon when you met the required number of items needed. Since right now it wont show which ones you cleared and if you don't remember you have to check them again and again.

本件について皆川と話をしてきました。
Talked to Minagawa regarding this matter

パッチ1.19にて、製作の目標数を超えた時点で、リージョナルリーヴを達成したときと同じようなマークをジャーナルのリーヴ一覧に追加するとのことです。
With patch 1.19 when crafting requirement is met (completed # of item needed) will add a mark like the one for regional leve clear.

また、ジャーナルに関しては、クエストの更新状況がわからなかったり、メインクエストが発生してもジャーナルでは確認できなかったりと、ジャーナル自体を根本から見直す必要があり、将来的に全面的に改修を予定しているとのことです。
Also regarding the journal, not being able to know updated quest information, or when main quest occurred but not showing up in journal; the journal needs to be looked over entirely so they are planning in the future to modify fully.

WoW and Lotro have alcohol but they don't make you more powerful when you use them (as far as I know.) Characters can become inebriated but then the visual effects change to reflect drunkeness... If the characters got beneficial buffs from alcohol it would potentially change the rating.

That being said the disclaimer about online content not being rated by esrb just covers interaction with other people. Basically saying you might run into some foul mouthed players online, and we can't rate for that.

The content in the game itself is still subject to rating.

The only buffs should be beer goggle eyes, and a feeling of self grandeur (I loved how wow made enemy levels go down the more you drink, sadly it's also the game's best feature imho)

hmm you sure it does that in WoW? like their level really go down of is it just an illusion? Because I honestly can't recall alcohol doing anything else than getting you drunk in WoW.

Unless we're permitted a race change option when the new races are released (something that has been hinted at and speculated about but not confirmed)
