This thread is talking about asian style armors/weapons in FFXIV and Triairy responded with the following.

将来的に、もしそれらしいジョブが実装されることになったら、
そのジョブにまつわる和装備（日本刀や甲冑などなど）はもちろん実装します。
ただ実装されるとしてもだいぶ先のことになってしまうと思いますので、
首をながーくしてお待ちいただければ幸いです。
In future if there is a job that is like that (Asian) we will definitely implement Asian equipment (such as Japanese Katana or Armor) however please note that even if we are going to implement it's going to be some time ahead so would appreciate if you can just sit tight and wait for this one.

ただ、そんなに待てないよ！という方に朗報です！
何名の方が書いてくれていましたが、
今年の夏の季節イベントでは、浴衣が手に入る予定です！
こちらもぜひぜひお楽しみに
But... for those that might say "I can't wait that long!" here's is some good info!
