YoshiP just posted on JP thread, don't think this applies to US locale but anyways... result of naming change for Aichakudo - Spirit Bond JP locale name. 2nd part has some info on why they didn't want to go by AP so that part might interest some.

「愛着度」の名称変更ですが
「錬精度（れんせいど）」となりました。
Regarding the naming "Aichakudo" we decided to use the name "Renseido"

APは非常に迷ったのですが、将来的に"Ability Point"など
他のシステムでの使用が予測されたことと、
今回の錬精度がゲージ表示であることから、ポイントという単語は、
イメージが合わなくなるなどから、今回は見送りました。
As for AP we really thought about it but for later we may plan to use AP for other systems for such as "Ability Point", and this times "renseido" will be displayed in a guage so it wouldn't match with the word "point" therefore we didn't use it this time around.
