Hardly. Supply is great but so is demand. You are still required for the materia process and will be in the future.

I am not! I have not been asked for a single catalyst since the price dropped to 800 gil. Why go get someone to get a catalyst for you when you can buy it painlessly off the market. In fact, our hardcore LS materia melders spend less on catalysts then materia and mats for gear combined.

Obviously the market should be used to efficiently be able to provide means for buyers to buy your stuff. Just because you use the market to handle the selling part doesn't make you useless. Why would you assume that?

In the short-term, yes. Although the Materia system was created to stimulate the economy that was stagnant before. And both DoL/DoH live and play by the economy.

Dev's 1 day doesn't end till they leave the office and get in bed.... lol is what YoshiP said in the past.
YoshiP's profile showed that he was still online in the forums like 30min ago but I guess he's offline now, if he posts midnight JP hours can be up till 3-3:30AM JP time, right now it's 1:24 AM as I post this, so maybe still a chance.

Majority of people play battle content because majority of MMO's focus on battle content. Games like EVE are economy focused and still pull in hundreds of thousands of players. If the company takes the feature seriously people will come to it.

Yoshi said that the proc rate of Fingerprints of the Gods will be readjusted in the future, they increased the proc rate to help get the catalyst into the marketplace and plan to lower in it the next patch.

Besides DoL were making way too much money from catalyst IMO in 1.19 because the rarity of them, obviously now its gone too much the other way.

What's wrong with high supply when demand is high as well? You could get just one catalyst in an hour but it wouldn't matter if nobody wanted to buy it. If you can get 4 stacks and buyers demand goes up to 5 stacks then gatherers are not bringing in enough supply.

You can't just look at the rate of acquisition and make assumptions from that. If one catalyst goes for 30k and you get one in an hour BUT now you get 10 catalysts that go for 3k per unit in an hour... it's all the same.

And it's also harder to get one materia than 3 stacks of catalysts. The only thing you are guaranteed is something. Gatherers know that when they gather for an hour, they get what they wanted. Somebody can turn gear into materia and get totally opposite of what he wanted. The price is dictated by those factors.... just because it's harder to acquire and thus more expensive doesn't make it 'better'.

Precisely. If DoL wasn't needed the demand would be near zero and no profit would be made.

I'm making gil from it too. But I don't feel needed. If I quit gathering tomorrow, no one would notice in my own LS. On the other hand, LS crafters can't seem to find a spare moment.

Another market that crashed is the fish market, now that shards are not in demand.

I really feel that despite the additions of catalysts and materia, 1.19 was not as big of a step forward for DoH as I had hoped. My only consolation is the actual mats. But even then, people want Karakul fleece and more Karakul fleece.

Can't get that with DoL.

These are my personal feeling that come from experiences in the game. I'm not just some idle QQ'er. But after being through so much disappointment, it's hard to look at Housing and maybe dungeons with the same rosed-colored lenses.

someone should start a new thread about gatherers lol lots of discussion going on here, pretty sure some gatherers want to read/get involved not reading this thread.
