Just had another read through of that interview, still waiting to know what this means:

DP: You can choose your guardian deity during character creation, but can you switch during the course of the game?
KI: We’ll probably make it possible, since there are some SERIOUS revelations about the deities during the game (Iwao laughs). There will most likely be a penalty, though.

Maybe something to do with them causing the umbral eras, but I guess that's not for this thread. Shame we lost him though, I do like the general direction the story seems to be going (SLOWLY), it seems like we haven't seen much of the depth they hope to eventually go into with the secrets of Eorzea at all. Shame he didn't see it come to pass.

I like to follow closely on key game programmer/designers and sometimes it does make a big difference with 1 key person in/out just hoping no chain reaction from this.

I checked the JP bookstore in Mitsuwa market here yesterday but they didn't have the magazine yet, got 2 other stores but one is bit of a drive just to buy one magazine, and other store is small and they usually don't have much gaming magazine stuff in there.

You guys Kenichi Iwao did not write the story or lore, that is Yaeko Sato, Scenario. In Iwao's own words: "I make the drafts for the characters, equipment, areas and setting and come up with names. I am in charge of items, guildleves, and other things and their circulation in the game, along with crafting and shops and a lot of other things… quite a wider range than in FFXI."
