    Passive Cross-skills

Ever think of allowing Jobs/Classes to have some passive Cross-skills? We have active ones and they add more fun to the game. Wouldn't it better if some passive skills can become Cross-skills as well?

Not really; most of the passives are designed to specifically benefit only the class they belong to.

The Traits can be split into two groups currently: "Ability Enhancer" and "Stat Bonus"

Ability Enhancers are what make a skills better for their originating class. If these are allowed to passively(i.e. automatically crossclass and not taking up a slot) cross-class then they could inadvertently cause one class to be more effective in its roll than others if allowed to grab the right cross-class skills. One the other hand most are weaker than another full skill if you have to put them in an add slot.

Stat Bonuses are to risky. One or more +2/6/12 stat bonus have the potential to be the most optimum add skill if you need to select them and passively granting the bonus will potentially cause players with every other class at 24 or 32 to have far greater stats than those with only a single class at 50.

Cross class traits could be interesting. You could try and balance it by having cross classed traits take the place of one of your own rather a simple addition like the abilities, and of course by having some sensible limits on it.

Something like being able to cross-class Proshell, Graniteskin, or enhanced raise would be great for PLD and SCH. I would fully expect something like this to take one of the cross-class skill slots (assuming they didn't just add separate slots for it), but I would also not expect every trait to cross-classable, such as the flat stat bonuses, or enhanced brutal swing that can't be cross-classed anyways. That way, some classes that currently have few cross-class skills would have some more variety available.

WHM only has cross-class 6 skills, one of which is totally useless (Physick), BLM is in a similar position with Hawks eye (unless they change the effect for BLM, but i wouldn't know, I don't have the ability).

I would also expect them to do a little bit of balance testing to decide if there was any combination of these that would cause unbalance, like a bard taking enhanced Inner Release or paladin's having enhanced raise in pvp.

I think this would be interesting and allow for more specialization, but because it could change how effective each of the jobs are in relation to one another, it might take a lot of work to fairly implement. This could also give us more variety before the first level cap increase or adding a new class/job.

Also, is there a reason this is in Tank roles and not General discussion or Other battle systems?

You can have the passives counting as one of the five slots. This would make things mores interesting. The current allowable cross class abilities is so limited that there isnt really any choice tbh.

The mantra buff would be the only one I'm interested in that doesn't make me too OP and also offers incentive to level a monk up to 42 (which I have). Just seems like a lot for a skill that only increases healing done to you by 5% but with Convalescence and 5 stacks you effectively have 45% healing done to you, though using up both skills is a definite no-no since you want to rotate your cd like a good tank. Plus 5% healing can easily be offset by eating your food so really mantra is almost pointless.

I'm pretty sure that the limited value of cross class skills is entirely intentional, especially if you look at the native abilities of those classes with very weak cross class ability suites (BLM and PLD have amazing local capabilities). Being able to grab passives to beef up your existing cross class abilities would detract from the value of that class/job concerning those shared skills: WHM brings proshell but SCH gets the faster EfE; PLD gets blind on its Flash but WAR gets improved Foresight and Bloodbath; etc. A lot of the passives that people would actually *want* are those passives designed to make it so that the native version of an ability is substantially better than the cross-class version (Graniteskin, the BfB passive, and the Mantra passive are excellent examples). The ones that would actually stay on par with the limited value that the devs have obviously intended for cross class abilities would be the ones that no one really cares much about, like the Blind on Flash or CD reduction for Mercy Stroke.

That does bring up a good idea... Maybe they could make Hawk's Eye raise STR/DEX/INT/MND by 15% instead of just DEX, this would make it a good multipurpose cross class ability like BfB and IR.
