If you haven't been in a t4 PT before then you won't understand that it's a lot tougher than t1 and t2 and casual approaches by making exceptions can be a difficult decision unless you know the person and how well they can play.
I did the same thing once and got speaking to the guy who was the leader of the PT, kept it friendly and polite and offered my services for whenever I managed to meet his requirements. In the meantime I have managed to get into quite a lot of t4 Pt's as I have an i83 BRD and MNK. This is where the problem was obvious though, some other people, despite having the same level could not keep up with the DPS needed to kill everything so quickly, whether they didn't know how to play their job or their gear was simply a foot in the door rather than being optimal I don't know.

The point I am trying to make is whilst it may not be necessary to exclude certain jobs that may not need to be of a certain level, it's usually best to keep the ilvl requirements as it lessens the chances that you wipe because of it. Also a lot of people want to do that turn and it doesn't usually take long for the leaders to find someone who is higher geared.
