I am a little disappointed in the way this linking data appears to be, but for now i would love to see further adjustment to it..

It's a bit underwhelming, to be sure. What's with the "pick 3 jobs" thing? That little banner doesn't show up anywhere other than settings as far as I can see.
My name is a killing word.
(Seriously: "Caerith" was a forbidden name when I signed up on the forums.)
Eorzea should be a world, not a lobby.
I liked the changes...but i'm annoyed that even after linking the character i have this lameass avatar instead of my own character :/
If they hadn't my character image would be a thing...but heck they had it at lodestone since like ever...
I agree...i was hoping something more like these enjin sigs...but its that thing...the major problem is to implement it...once its live adjusting is much easier! ^^
As a web programmer in the past I don't see what's so hard getting the images from your character into these forums... your character data, image is all linked from the game to lodestone, lodestone probably already has the data in some type of database such as MySQL or w/e... Some stuff really makes me wonder what the hell are the devs (in this case the web devs) are doing... Unless this forum's coding requires new features to be added as plugin's... still don't think it would be too hard...I liked the changes...but i'm annoyed that even after linking the character i have this lameass avatar instead of my own character :/

It's not the main problem right now so I really don't care atm; too bad it doesn't show ALL your character info, mules everything... wanted to see how the JP trolls would of reacted on the forum lol. They would of probably screamed "I'm Melting!!, melting... melting..." like the witch from wizard of Oz...
Well in a place like NA and EU, it's less a problem, but in JP...well...let's just say physical retribution can happen especially when anyone is a couple of hours away..JPs should be scared of more then just "melting".As a web programmer in the past I don't see what's so hard getting the images from your character into these forums... your character data, image is all linked from the game to lodestone, lodestone probably already has the data in some type of database such as MySQL or w/e... Lodestone is giving way too much information at this point, it's borderline dangerous.
I lived in Japan I know how it is, I know how it feels like to be a Gaijin living in Japan also when Gaijin's were treated like crap in the 80's. But I mean it's your game character info... come on... you're not giving your real address, real name. If you posted some info that shows your real name, real info in your lodestone blogs then it's that persons responsibility for posting that stuff. Another problem with the JP's is they get stressed out too much and worried about how their personal status might get harmed; they say something in the game, someone recorded that conversation posts it on their blog without any permission causing problem to a point that person had to leave the game because he/she couldn't continue anymore feeling like he/she got attacked... that he/she shouldn't of posted the conversation in open public in the first place. It's only a online game; if your status is so important you should watch what you say, and if you screwed up it's online so you always have 2nd, 3rd, 4th.... chance making new character to hide your identity and be smart enough you don't screw up again... period... end of story... Now if FFXIV was linked to Facebook with real info, then you're F'ed lolWell in a place like NA and EU, it's less a problem, but in JP...well...let's just say physical retribution can happen especially when anyone is a couple of hours away..JPs should be scared of more then just "melting".

But not too much Japanese use Facebook (yet) in the first place, they use Mixi more so that part's OK, doubt SE will link it to Mixi. And if they did link it to facebook you know the NA players will link their character LOL... It's fine they want to link it... just don't tell me what level you reached, or what trophy you got on my wall...

There is a lot I can tell with some investigating and some clever detective work. It's pretty brutal in the age of internet stalking. Unless you're actively conscious to not be easily tracked.I lived in Japan I know how it is, I know how it feels like to be a Gaijin living in Japan also when Gaijin's were treated like crap in the 80's. Kids these days are pretty beat up about this stuff much more then last generation.
I agree with Reinheart, though. Unless someone actually says their real name/information on the Lodestone blog or something, you're not going to figure out who they are and where they live from something they said on this forum. You pretty much have to actively out yourself. There is a lot I can tell with some investigating and some clever detective work. It's pretty brutal in the age of internet stalking. Facebook is way more dangerous than a video game.
