I call Shenanigans. FFXI's characters are much better proportioned and it was designed for PS2.

*sigh*http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwMb6QkBgxI From the Firefall Faire in 1.0, looking at this while playing the game now makes me sad. I really hope they eventually update the models at some point.
That video made me sad. Everything in 1.0 looked so much better.
Everyone thought paid retainers and fantasia would be the end of it.
You were warned.
Cash shop in, TrystWildkey out.
just get over it already. go watch porn for your butt fetish like a normal person.
I think its more everyone wanting a normal looking character, rather than having a butt fetish.
Character look and appeal should be a priority as well as gameplay, since we are always using our characters and see them on a daily basis almost as if they were our second selves.

Even disregarding the butt itself, it's very much a matter of gear looking right on my character. Currently The only lower-body gear that matches upper body gear is loose skirts, which all have the old model's design, which is then made less appealing because the legs are all too thin for skirts. Tight skirts look ridiculous now, and it's not just Miqo'te, it's all races and both genders.
The thing that sets this game apart from the others for me is aesthetics, FFXI was the same way for me: presentation won me over. It's something that has been better than other games imo, and back in 1.x nothing looked sloppy and I supported the idea of 2.0 with high hopes-- there was no warning the models would take a hit this drastically.
I'm not saying it wasn't worth it, but I just think it should be treated like a Band-Aid, something temporary to get us through these initial stages, but to be revisited later when the game stabilizes. How about instead of negativity, we acknowledge that while this is a legitimate request, we should emphasize that it should be put on a somewhat low priority.

You have a knack for going into every thread and complaining.
But, pretty much what Vejjiegirl said. The characters used to look proportionate and highly detailed, now they're so heavily compressed and retopologised they've lost almost all the hard work and detail that went into the original models.
Why settle for an low-detailed model when the capability for a higher one is there.
Tell me about it. I shouldn't have watched it. Those character models, those inertia animations!
It's honestly absolutely ridiculous that SE thinks "Some players might find the microsecond it takes to start or stop moving stressful!" is a good excuse. Man I miss the old aesthetics...
Sir Mix-A-Lot would approve of this thread.
I would like to see them take this on as an eventual. I kinda think it would be best to roll out along with say an expansion that has a new race since they will probably be doing a lot of work with the older armor at that time anyway. This has kinda bothered me for quite a while - I always thought something looked off about my character, but couldn't quite place it until I saw these threads.
Questing is like participating in an Old Spice Commercial - Talk to me, talk to him, talk to me, talk to him, Now Talk To Me...Sadly, you are not done, back to him, look there, its that mob I never liked, back to me, back to him...I'm in the Waking Sands.
