Never a mind was changed on an internet board, no matter how good your arguments are...
Hmm I must say I haven't noticed any bots so far from leveling fisher, leveling botanist and now leveling miner. Maybe it's just luck for me - and yes I did gather some 2k shards at one point for my FC because we needed it... that was mind numbingly tedious.
Don't need a source. Talk to one of your friends. Get them to make an alt. Befriend the alt. Then have them delete the alt. See if their alt's name shows <deleted>. I have a few <deleted> on my friends list from people I befriended from 1.0. however maybe like 2 or 3 RMT names on my blacklist show <deleted>.
The only thing we could hope is that the staff can avoid that this kind of stuff happens over and over...

I seriously do not care about Bots that much, until they try to monopolize a certain Farming-Spot or Items. There was a group with a FC on Hyperion botting Apkallu-Eggs, crafted the food, sold it. They also botted PvP and certain other things and i have reported them up to a dozen times A DAY. I have not seen them since a month now and if you check their Lodestone it seems they stopped playing. So i guess they finally received the ban, all of them.
It is hard for SE to actually confirm if it is a bot or not. They need to have actual evidence to ban them, so if people wonder why certain bots/rmt are still there:
1. They are smart enough to not get caught, even if it is obvious to a player.
2. They are not monopolizing or do not have an impact on the actual economy.
3. They are simply not bots.
You can easy macro a full recipe and just click 1 button here and there, people do not have to answer your tells, hardcore farmers do exist and do that for hours without using 3rd party tools and also certain RMTs do not bot at all. RMT's receive a ban if SE has evidence they are involved in RMT activities, which has hardly anything to do with botting.
Well, if we wanted to go into full conspiracy mode here, wouldn't SE make even more money with quick bans so they could keep selling more games and subs as the RMT churn through new accounts? LOL
--------------------------------------------------
The generation of random numbers is too important to be left to chance.
If they are obvious botters with no way to hide it then it is possible that since they know they will get banned for sure the next ban hammer hits and so they troll SE by creating new chars with the same names as the old ones. It also sends a message to the gill buyers that they are here to stay as it gives the illusion that these chars are safe.
Because SE can't ruin what other players already ruined long before botting became common place. Bots aren't the ones constantly undercutting items into oblivion. Also, didn't yoshi say recently to be discrete if you're going to use addons and 3rd party tools? I know he was talking about the parser and FFXIVAPP, but a lot of the bots out there are 3rd party addons to XIVAPP..so...
I miss FFXI and being able to MPK the RMT.
Good times...
SE could just generate the gil out of thin air at the press of a button, why would they spend hours on end botting?
