If they had thought so many people would be up in arms over there being no specific healer in the party would they have explained that it's like this for a reason, or did they just think "It's easier to give both mage classes have a form of healing since we think people will be soloing a lot." As it is I don't have a HUGE problem with being a gray mage, when I was Whm in FFXI I wished I could still do some damage in a party rather then just healing. Now I know, "If you felt like that then why didn't you play as Red Mage, duh!" Well Red Mage was just a bit too much work for me. When I got Smn it was perfect for me, my summon did all the damage that I wanted to do and with my Whm subbed I could heal myself or my party members if need be.
I understand why people want to have separate mage classes, but at the moment I'm happy with how the Conj. Job is.
Simple, the original developers of the game had no clue what they were doing. Now that we have the right team on the FFXIV project I assume we are going to see many MANY much needed changes, including having a dedicated healer class.
