I think I recall that hp variance between the lowest VIT race and highest ends up being about 2%. In other words it makes a small enough difference that even in a community of people min/ maxing everything nobody cares about it. Realistically you can play every single class in the game as well as anyone else.
That's good to know. I can just choose a race based on what I like better aesthetically then.

I'm feeling like I might go DPS/Tank in the long run. I'll have to look and see if there's any class crossovers there as far as jobs. Might make that easier to attain. Though from what I hear melee DPS is harder to pull off than ranged due to all the AOE attacks from bosses.

Currently the only limited dungeons are The binding coil of Bahamut turns 1-5 (once per week), but they are level 50 so you wouldn't use them for levelling anyway.
You get exp every time you complete a dungeon. Also when you unlock at least two dungeons you can participate in Duty roulette which gives you a big bonus once a day. Guildhest roulette once a day also gives a good bonus for a very short time spent there.

So if wanted to eventually have a capped tank class and a capped DPS class it seems Warrior and Dragoon would be the way to go, huh? That would require capping two classes (Lancer and Marauder) and a minimum 15 levels on a Gladiator if I'm understanding this correctly. Well, that can be a long term goal anyway lol.

You're understanding correctly. Both those jobs also have Pugilist as the other class they can pull skills from, so you'd also save a little time in gathering useful cross-class skills.

Ah, yes, thanks. I have to look into which cross class skills make sense as well. I hadn't considered that yet.

Below is a useful link to a database of cross-class abilities. Simply select the class or job you are interested in.

Please notice that classes have a lot more versatility in this regard compared to jobs, although you will be spending the majority of your time as a job at endgame. Use it how you wish.

Also worth noting is that cross class skills that aren't part of your job's class set (Main Class/Sub Class) are super useful, and you'll have one or two additional "sub classes" that you can get skills from.

For example, White Mage has Conjurer as its primary class and Arcanist as its sub class, but they can also get skills from Thaumaturge and Archer. The Thaumaturge ability "Swiftcast" is invaluable for high level White Mage play because it allows you cast your next spell instantly instead of waiting for a casting time (which is usually used for Raise, as it has an 8 second cast normally.)

So whatever class and job you end up landing on when the game releases for PS4, check what additional sub classes you can borrow skills from and consider leveling them up to get those. Also, if you're planning to level Marauder/Warrior, try to get Gladiator to Level 8 pretty quickly (don't wait to level it until after you hit 30 on Marauder). Getting Gladiator to Level 8 will allow to use the "Flash" skill. That skill will be invaluable to you in lower level dungeons (as it will be your main source of pulling enmity on multiple targets at once.)

The way I understood it is that it's exactly one other class (in addition to the job's required secondary class). A White Mage can pull from Arcanist or Thaumaturge, but not Archer.

The primary class has to be at least level 30 to unlock the job, it shares the same level and XP as the job, and all its class skills are available to the job (as normal skills — not cross-class).
The secondary class has to be at least level 15 to unlock the job, and it's available to pull cross-class skills from.
The tertiary class isn't required, but can be used to pull cross-class skills from in the same way as the secondary class.

Warrior: Marauder (primary) + Gladiator (secondary) + Pugilist (tertiary)
Paladin: Gladiator (primary) + Conjurer (secondary) + Marauder (tertiary)
Monk: Pugilist (primary) + Lancer (secondary) + Marauder (tertiary)
Dragoon: Lancer (primary) + Marauder (secondary) + Pugilist (tertiary)
Bard: Archer (primary) + Pugilist (secondary) + Lancer (tertiary)
White Mage: Conjurer (primary) + Arcanist (secondary) + Thaumaturge (tertiary)
Black Mage: Thaumaturge (primary) + Archer (secondary) + Arcanist (tertiary)
Summoner: Arcanist (primary) + Thaumaturge (secondary) + Archer (tertiary)
Scholar: Arcanist (primary) + Conjurer (secondary) + Thaumaturge (tertiary)

Flash is nice, and I wouldn't argue about using a cross class slot on it early on. It has its uses. But I can't imagine relying on it as a main source of AOE enmity. Overpower provides more enmity, and MRD/WAR just doesn't have enough MP or MP recovery to use on Flash that much.
