All the time. But I have alch capped and farm mats when I'm bored. I also like seeing regular 2k+ flares.
Ethers, Elixirs and Mega potions of mind are on my hot bar but I usually only pop them in coils, but its always situational. Like if I see a Convalescence + Mantra up . Having that and a Fey Illumination + Mega Pot does make for very large adlos. Would really like to make use of them outside of coils but the timers are too short and cool downs too long for non essential usage of meds..
I use ether after getting rez
The biggest issue I find with medicine in this game is the extremely high recharge. Its higher than most spells and skills and they are unbelievably weak in comparison too. They are only good in emergency, but if you find yourself at that point, a lot of the time they still do not help. I did rely on them early in since I didn't have a Tank Pet and had to Tank on my Arcanist for my DPS pet, or when I'd go into a low level dungeon and the concept of MP management wasn't really a thing for you as a new player.
Time limit and low benefit for a lot of them just make them highly unappealing to use, even in an emergency. I carry various Ethers and Potions on me but I hardly ever have to use them. I don't have any set to my hotbar anymore because they became more of a hindrance for me than any sort of benefit.
I typically use an X-Ether during Twintania twisters.
its funny everyone is blaming your healer in this thread, though I do believe he should work on his MP management, and possibly his over-curing as I think he may be healing to much or using the wrong cure at times that the less mp draining cure1 + DS will suffice.......as a dedicated healer (both my sch and WHM have cleared coil and have weaps I only play heal class) I can say for sure that if your healer was pushed to the point of zero mp most of the time your party is doing something wrong (i.e dps taking to much uneeded damage, tanks not using CD's correctly)most healers panic when to much damage is happening and run thru a lot of MP in the process especially WHM's, there isn't a fight currently aside from T5 that ive had to seriously worry about MP unless I covering to many mistakes.
don't get me wrong I don't defend bad healer's just always look at things both ways.
-By the light of the crystal-
I am with you on this one. I usually carry a stack of elixirs on me, food, potions of various quality and type. I get some have really crappy shared cool downs so some are more or less useless but I cant tell you how many times I survived something because I was able to pop potion before healer could finish a cast or an ether to get one more cast off before shroud or ballad was available.I was in Ultima Hard Mode, and the other healer wasn't that great with MP management. So, he kept bothering the Bard for Ballad, but the Bard was out of MP himself because of Ballad. So i told the Bard to use an Ether, then Battlevoice + Ballad, but he said he doesn't carry them. I told the other healer to pop an Ether then, he said he didn't carry them either.
I carry them, but only use them for emergency situations, but I was wondering if anyone else feels the game mechanics don't really push people to feel the need to carry meds.
Oh and as others have mentioned post res to get back in the fight faster or be able to heal vs. stand around doing nothing for 30-40 seconds.
