Future Races for FFXIV

The fact that you can list a whole bunch of stuff they've reused already only emphasizes my point: To inject some originality into this game, they should develop new concepts for races when the time comes, something to distinguish Eorzea from the slew of other FF worlds.

Even Blizzard reused things from the Warcraft universe for their MMORPG based on Warcraft.

I will quote this post since it also include something i wanted to say, but actually reply to your first one.

Don't get me wrong, i would totally love something fresh, new and unique, but you know that the FF-Worlds are connected via Void? If you go by Lore they could basically have Zack go into Gold-Saucer, or Sephiroth go and destroy Al Migho. The Worlds are connected by lore, but out of a Design pov, yes it is "recycled" Design, but absolutely possible due the lore.

This is why Race wise, it's a bit touchy if they add completely new Races because, what would it be? How would it be different than just adding in a race from Ivalice, Gria for example? That way they at least would still be sticking to the same universe like they already have been doing. Originality usually happens between each game through the systems and storyline, while you may find this bad..that's really what RPGs, FF in particular, are known for. ARR doesn't even have its own unique systems in terms of RPG or MMORPGs. So why not actually continue to make this a FF game and utilize races already present if they can make them fit?

Gria is the one race that can fit perfectly in this game.

That's why i did mention Viera and/or Ronso. Ronso may be a little bit iffy to fit into the world, but i can totally see Viera with some little changes. If we look at a certain Gear-Concept from a while ago... idk.. i find it obvious, while other people said it is the gear changing the actual anatomy of the body.



To have an existing race fit into that... impossible. For all existing gear, it changes its size from race to face and does not fuck up the anatomy at all. This Set of Gear does.. or is it a simple tease ( since there is actually no face )? People tried to argue when SE first did show the artwork for the XIV cover and it did show a scholar, but was not confirmed.. as soon as i saw it i knew it was SCH.. people denied it SOOO HARD... but in the end i was right. We will know soon enough i guess.

Gria would be awesome actually. I don't find it bad at all, did i give that impression, or was that directed at the person i've quoted? That is basically why i love the FF-Universe and why i would don't mind at all having i.e. Lightning appear in XIV.

You.. do know.. that is the BLM PVP armor right? I mean.. in the actual full picture (one not cropped) this is clearly shown... right? Can't imagine a race fitting into that? Well try harder lol

I don't think anyone should get the ability to be a more powerful race, this isn't a game with huge racial stats, so it would just be really odd, seeing a Padjal Gladiator, when we all know they are just born from Humes with lots of magical aptitude and long life spans. I just don't see a reason to make the player a really powerful, not to mention politically important race. Padjal aren't only "a race with horns" they tend to rule over Gridania. Also the player isn't supposed to really "have a home" so to speak within one of the city-states, being a padjal says "i'm from gridania, born and raised" that's just anti the whole adventurer sentiment.


Viera I wouldn't mind, but honestly...rather than a new race, I'd almost like the ability to be mixed race. Makes much more sense that we've been mixing it up, than we find a totally new race in the world, without them being some OP god race or something man made , meh, but then again I'm not sure if two races mate, if the kid just comes out looking like one race with minor genes from the other, i think that's how it is they always look like the mother, and get some genes from dad or something :/ bummer.
