    CPU Bottleneck

While playing my game will stutter. im watching my CPU usage and im at 90-95% constantly. so obviously my cpu is bottlenecking. are their any setting i can adjust to help alleviate this problem? If not is their any possible CPUs i could upgarde for my motherboard? from personal research it appears i already have the best processor my board can handle.

According to Gigabyte is seems the best CPU your motherboard K8N Pro-SLI can use would be a dual core AMD Athlon 64 FX60, which would be a marked improvement on the one you currently have.
Now, if this would be cost effective or even possible to find, is something all together different.

As to what you can adjust to get better performance, well, first off, the minimum requirements is for a 2 GHz dual core processor, so you are well below that currently!
There really is not anything you can do to circumvent that, but disable shadows, dust effect, extended drawing and physics ingame and hope for the best.

missed the fact that it was a dual core in reqs. ill check out that processor you mentioned. i know 939 socket processors have been discontinued so should be fun to locate one.

I've had this rig for 6 years now. been meaning to replace it for a while now. hard to do atm though, in my last semester of college.

in grand scheme of things i only paid $15 bucks for the game so no great loss if i can play it.

Your taskmanager is lying. Had a desktop gadget saying it uses six cores (lmao). You need a special tool to determine how many threads a program has and how much CPU-usage each thread has.

How many cores a program can use is determined by how optimized the code is for parallel processing. You basically have to extract code that can be run in parallel and fit it into a worker thread while the main thread does something else. Thanks to directX this works pretty easily for two cores as one core runs the game mechanics and the other runs the graphics stuff. This can easily be achieved using dxut or xna. If you want to use more cores you will have to split up the game mechanics(Physics, AI, Content pipeline, etc. ).
